Am I the only one who often wonders, "What exactly did Tim Cook contribute to this and how?"
It seems more like he's just the guy who breaks things already working more often than not.

And yes, for those wondering, I'm still on a Cheese grater Mac Pro because I refused to buy a non-upgradeable trash can.
I only choose to not run Catalina honestly because I don't have Bill Gates latest and greatest Office package, but an older one that will not work with Catalina.

No, that would require an OS update.

By the way, although I use Catalina as well, are you just unwilling, or are you unable, to run Monterey for those things?
Unable. Bought top of top spec late 2012 Mac mini auto future proof so am still sad that my high performance box got stuck on Catalina.

Re I agree your point on PR being an o/s thing, I suppose it could be partially implemented in safari to cover safari only but it wouldn’t do much for folks using other browsers or apps.

I think there is a fair chance these will come in with a security u/d (as these are nuts and bolts o/s changes). It would be ludicrous to support safari on Catalina and not have compatible with changes (HME PR etc) available to/initiated on my 6S which in reality would render the supported Catalina boxes unable to use features enabled on iOS 15 devices (it would either f/u the Mac or force users not to use these upgrades on iOS.)

🤞!!!

Yes I think so.

Tim’s not like a Russian Czar who had to approve even trivial things like divorces. Tim is much more responsible for strategy and hiring than determining radii or tool bar layout.

Also it is a truism for both people and companies. Those that fail to stretch and grow, to try the mew against the risk of fail, are at best running in place as the world passes them by and at worst already dying but not knowing it yet.

If this version has the new tab design, could anybody send a screenshot? I'm currently on Big Sur but I'm interested if it has it to see what it looks like.

Here's what it looks like. It doesn't seem to have the tab design preference location of Monterey beta 3 or 4.

Yea so crazy thing I didn't expect after installing seed 4 of Safari 15.

It fixed a login delay issue that was driving me nuts.

Machine would hang for 20-40 seconds delay when loging back in from screen saver or sleep, maybe longer from sleep. Fan controllers would ramp up the fan as the CPU was working hard. I run the fan manager because native runs the CPU too hot IMHO and is always a godo audio feedback that the CPU is underlay.

Now it is almost instant login!

It could be my imagination but safari sure feels a lot zippier too. I never though to check activity monitor for before and after.

Perhpas Apple have improved resources usage of safari in the overall app. I use a 2012 MM quad core server with SSD's

Mainly I wanted to check out the tab management feature, which is something I've wanted like tab groups for many years, years before it was even outed as a feature, it's a kind of obvious one.

I surf with way to many tabs open and way too many new windows, the way SSD makes possible, it's easy to have what seems like hundreds of tabs.

So that's a thing, a positive thing. So far I like the changes a lot. Visual look goos.

No chance it fixed the iMessage bug that sees it still inoperable! :(
