Apple Releases Safari 5.1.5

Since switching over to mac, i've been using solely safari (I have chrome installed but rarely use it)

I love it, other than the occasional youtube video that doesn't play, it works perfectly for me. love the reading list, and the bookmarks sync across devices

Enabled use of Bing Birds Eye View

I couldn't use Birds Eye View in Bing with 5.1.4 but it works perfectly in 5.1.5. It's a very good aerial photo view of many locations worldwide. First time I've ever had a problem with Safari, which I use almost all the time.

the new CHROME update is suck.

The two fingers backward page is suck. Try to scroll vertically, but ended back pages.

Better Safari two fingers backward.

A recent update (a few weeks back) added an issue where Googling (via the toolbar) crashes Safari maybe 25% of the time. Same stack crawl every time. I keep submitting crash reports in the hope it'll be addressed, but several weeks later, still nothing.

Fingers crossed..

I've been considering switching back to Safari from Chrom purely for the reader function so this might be the push I need..

Meh, this stuff doesn't usually matter to me. I run the WebKit nightlies. I live in a sea of bugs that release webkit could never hope to match. Oh well, at least I get features early. :p You should see full page accelerated drawing. Deal with the crashes and you have yourself a faster browser!

It feels snappier :D

Psst, I realise you didn't get the memo. But Safari has been out for like, 8+ years now. And with every update there was a forum thread about it. And in every one of those threads there was always some corny little dork that posted "It feels teh snappier! lulzz!" Yes, really.
You know thats like, Old. Right? As in, it was old long before you even thought about registering here. I think it was funny once. Hmm, actually no, it wasn't really ever funny. And it didn't really get any funnier after this many years and this many threads about Safari updates.

Shed the cheese kid! It's 2012.

Wait for it... Safari is getting better. It's ok on Lion but a bit slower compared to Chrome.

The new Safari in Mountain Lion DP2 is a real SCREAMER though! It has some nice improvements and it's really fast.

Well that sounds hopeful. Currently I am running Lion and Safari is just slow. Too slow. So I'm using Chrome, but mayhap I'll switch when Mountain Lion comes out.

I'm still waiting for a fix to JavaScript. 5.1.4 seems to freeze in some JavaScript code. 5.1.5 didn't fix that. I like Safari, but I'm having to spend more time in other browsers since 5.1.4 was released.

Uploaded. No significant difference, but I am using Firefox and I have been using it since I bought my iMac. Plus, I use it on my Laptop.

Doesn't hold a candle to 5.2. Build 7535.18.5

Best browser available.

----------

Until they fix the memory usage, it's a useless browser.

What memory usage? My Safari uses between 200 and 500 MB.

Did you know, thats what Memory is there for in the first place?

I LMAO at people who want 16 GB of RAM in their Facebook laptops, and also want apps not to use any of it.

The previous and next page buttons are still almost the same colour when they have a page to go to compared to when they don't. It used to be so obvious. :(

Plenty of contrast between the two in SL 10.6.8. Are you running Lion?

Adobe flash still not working on my Safari on iMac

I use an iMac and even with 5.1.5 Flash does not work on my 5.1.5 browser!

Apple has released Safari 5.1.5 just two weeks after the release of 5.1.4. The update is a minor one, however, with just one noted bug fix:
The issue with 32-bit mode had been noticed previously by several of our readers.

Safari 5.1.5 can be downloaded from Apple's Safari download page or via Software Update.

Safari 5.2 was seeded to developers earlier this year as part of the Mountain Lion preview release. Among the new additions are a unified address/search bar, new persistent Reader icon that is blue when available and grey when inactive, and new URL styling to highlight the domain the page is on while deemphasizing other aspects of the URL. It should be available later this year.
