I'm still disappointed that Apple dropped the Windows version of Safari with version 6.

It's bad enough that I have to use Windows for my job - at least let me have a decent browser that doesn't just syphon off all my information back to Google...

Be careful with this update, I updated and now Safari is no longer on my system at all. Replaced by a question mark and not visible in a spotlight or a manual search! Completely vanished! I'm having to use Chrome to post this!!

You could just use a direct link in my thread instead of the mac app store:

No need to reinstall the system.

EDIT: Those links are now dead.

Snow Leopard??

The XP equivalent? It needs to die, already (only for those that could update but don't because they like to live on the past and demand things: "**** icloud!"; "**** social: if I wanted to be social I would get out of the basement!" and so on.

However, if there are machines where support ended with 10.6.8 and they are less than 5-7 years, they should be supported, otherwise Apple should be embarrassed.

Having said all that, Safari is just a gazillion miles ahead as a browser than anything else out there (speed, stability, battery life, features, looks), and now more than ever.

But I still have to use Chrome/pushbullet because Apple chooses to
ignore Android users. I get why, and it is ok. But Chrome is actually good now (just not Safari-Good), and it works fine with Android and Windows (when needed).

I still can't understand why Apple isn't pushing Safari down the throat of every single Windows user with iTunes: They would control the whole i-ecosystem experience so much better.

Having said all that... Yosemite is so ****ing gorgeous and amazing. The only thing that Apple does that is really pissing me off is concerned with the best computer ever made, the MBAir.

Why no handoff and continuity support for the 2011 model, that actually has low power bluetooth 4.0? Why the still (for that machine) disgustingly bad cheap-ass TN panel? /rant

That's all they fixed? What about the crashing, hanging on a page, etc?
I wish they would also go back to the previous design where the re-size buttons aren't on the same line as the html bar

Every update..

It keeps the simple minded happy though :)

And better yet, Safari is now so snappy that it has reversed the direction of time, and websites now load before you have even thought about clicking on a URL.

wonder if various bugs i've noticed have been solved.

of the many, when writing a comment on youtube and trying to highlight text causes it to scroll to the top of the page!!

so many bugs in the apple software right now, it's like they don't have a QC team there???

Not Showing Up

Its not showing up in the App Store on my Macbook running 10.10.1 but it did show up on my iMac running the same 10.10.1.

Anyone have a direct link or know why it wouldn't show up?

No longer supported.

What was the last version to support SL? 5.1.7?

What about for windows :(

I know! I use windows only occasionally and would love to use Safari. I actually liked Safari 5.1.7 for windows at the time. Shame they couldn't have kept it. Actually, I think they should at least for developmental purposes. I come across way to many websites (usually school and smaller sites) that have rendering issues in Safari. I know some website owners that don't have a Mac so they just test it in Firefox, IE, and Chrome. Granted, for a while Chrome and Safari shared a similar rendering engine, but that didn't mean everything that worked in Safari worked in Chrome. I don't see where it would hurt Apple to have kept a Windows variant alive.

Safari 7.1.1 isn't showing up for me. :(

Not sure if serious...but I'm feeling a little slower while browsing not by much but completely noticeable. Pages taking slightly longer to load

I wonder if they pulled this update. It's caused issues with Yosemite and you say it's slower and it isn't showing up for me.

Uhh super New Person question.

Article states that Safari can be uploaded through the App Store. Is there a special way to do this? Mine shows no updates available. 10.10.1 is the last downloaded update on the calendar. My settings are to download all updates automatically, but Safari still shows 8.0 .

Searching for Safari in the app store or looking for another means to update has not been successful yet. Something I'm missing?

Oh, you got it first :p

Take your iPad to work?

Yeah, they've pulled it.

Also, you can't search for built in OS X apps. It will just appear and alert you after your computer does a check or you click the Apple logo at the top left of your screen and select Software Update.

I'm with you in feeling a bit of animus for not getting all the handoff goodness for my 2011 MBA (and don't tell me its because of slow processor or too little memory or storage, as my MBA is i7 w/ max both the memory and storage options)

Yeah, Apple. Next time hold onto every software update you have that will improve your products until you have the one that this particular guy needs...

Particular guy? Tons of people are having wifi connectivity issues. And sorry since one of the most used features of a computer is the internet it's sort of a big deal if it's not working properly.

People who use Snow Leopard don't use it because they're antisocial. It's much faster and more stable in most cases than anything else, plus it doesn't have the really annoying file management "features" of Lion and onward. Most importantly, it's the latest OS my MacBook can run, so...
