The update doesn't show up for me...
How about updating your OS to a version that's not 6 years old. Unbelievable
Why? At work I use Windows 7 Pro. I works great and has another five years of support. W7 doesn't get screwed up every year by yearly fashion show OSs that break things that used to work. W7 isn't caught up in new paradigm, latest-greatest marketing BS. It's kind of nice that way.[COLOR=[/QUOTE]
You answered your own question. Business support for W7. Old Apple software is only worshiped by a rather small group interesting individuals. No money in supporting them when most have moved on.
I have a MacBook Pro that is not capable of running anything beyond Lion because it is not fully 64-bit compatible (I would've preferred Mountain Lion over Lion, but that's a no-go). So it's possible the users who are complaining couldn't upgrade their OS even if they wanted to. We're way past the point where the average person needs to upgrade their hardware every couple of years just to run most of what they do from day to day.
That said - I don't expect Apple to maintain support for it at this point. And I use that old MBP as a streaming video server for use on our home network, not as my daily driver. Plus if I did want to take it out and about, there's always Firefox.
Where is 5.3.4 for Snow Leopard and Lion...?
God damn you Apple...!
And they have yet to fix a glaring UI issue! When you are on a tab, enter a new address in the address bar, and open it in a new tab by pressing command + return, the newly typed URL remains if you switch back to the previous tab. What's more, if you reload the previously opened tab it will not reload but instead load the typed URL!
I am unable to replicate this issue. For me the new tab opens and it keeps me in the original tab with the old url displayed.
Why are you still using Snow Leopard?
They need to update the windows version... its wayyyyy behind the others. It would be nice if they would give it the ability to watch the Apple keynotes as well. Since my MacBook Pro toasted its main board I don't have the money to shell out $1500 to $2500 for a new laptop so guess I'll have to stick to the apple TV or my iPhone :/ I would enjoy being able to access the keynotes on the PC more though (I know there is a somewhat annoying method of watching it through VLC Player and what-not but being able to directly access it from apples own browser would be preferable).
Many of us have machines that Apple chose the prevent us from installing newer OS X versions by artificial means.
Our machines can run the newest versions, but Apple has chosen to prevent us from installing the new versions. For those who understand how to edit Apples installation scripts, it can be worked around.
Sad really. Apple's attempts to force people to buy new machines only ends up discouraging people because we've already seen how fast Apple will artificially render our computers obsolete.
At least microsoft hasn't written it into their code to refuse to install if your computer model is on some list. Windows will install if your processor is fast enough and you have enough memory. Very simple.
Apple supported my white Macbook up till Lion, so how about I have no choice? The laptop still works fine, put in a SSD. But Apple doesn't care. You can of course be snarky and be wrong too, as you illustrate.
Snow Leopard and Lion...
Really???
Here: https://www.google.com/chrome/browser/desktop/index.htmlWhere is 5.3.4 for Snow Leopard and Lion...?
Just downloaded it. Hope it stops these random Safari self shutdowns.
And still Safari won't save zoom level. Crazy...

It seems you have to have this option checked in preferences > tabs: "when a new tab or window opens, make it active", or press command + shift + return to open it in the foreground instead.
Safari needs pop up dialog blocker like chrome.
They are becoming more like Google every day...
Current version no longer supports 32bit CPU running 10.6.x
But the page doesn't specifically tell you.
CoreDuo and CoreSolo CPUs are pretty screwed as far as browsers are concerned. Just been thru this for a client.
