The situation really wasn't too different when OS X was on a multi-year release cycle. I remember a lot people having issues with Mac OS X Tiger at first per example. It wasn't the release with the most 10.x.x updates in OS X history without reason.

A lot of the updates for Tiger were to counter the efforts of the Hackintosh community.

I am just wondering, is there anyone out there that has run the dev previews of yosemite on a mid 2010 Mac Pro? How does it feel compared to ML & MAVS? I'm still on ML and it runs ok, still notice a few things in ML that was never addressed but nothing that stops me from working. The main issue I fear is GUI lag & what concerns me most of all is how well yosemite is gonna run on older Mac's. Anyone care to share?

Anyone?

I can confirm CS5 works great on my 2009 iMac and CS6 works too although I've had a few sporadic keyboard issues with CS6 - my guess is they will get fixed once Yosemite is released or maybe not if they are trying to get people to get onto their rental scheme!

Thanks. Sounds great!

I'll do what I can to avoid 'their rental scheme'. The day Adobe lets me buy/upgrade and thereby own CS like I used to, they will get to my wallet again.
I fear it will never happen.

Real switching options for both Photoshop and Illustrator are (almost) there. But who is working on something to match/dethrone InDesign?

Still unable to connect to update server when I try doing PB5 update....someone help! Says "can not connect to software update server"

I was having the same issue! I called Apple Support and everything! At this point, they told me they're not even trained for OS X Yosemite yet!

I fixed my issue by recovering from a later backup I had through Time Machine.

I have Filevault 2 enabled and I am only asked for my password once at login.

we've seen it where if you have FileVault 2 enabled but not enabled for all users on on the computer, it sometimes will require a double login, not sure if that's the case here or not.

Defocusing from Yosemite

If a FileVault 2 user boots in safe mode, then that user must enter their password at EfiLoginUI (key to unlock the OS X startup volume). Then launchd will launch loginwindow and loginwindow will require credentials of any valid user.

If a FileVault 2 user boots in normal mode, then loginwindow should not require entry of any credential. And then for a login by someone who is not enabled for FileVault 2, loginwindow must be used.

I'm not even going to discuss this anymore here because from reading various comments, I can tell half of you are just trolling and not even testing Yosemite like I have for almost 3 months now.

I Give Up, Yosemite Destined For The Trash Bin!

I tried various fixes to abate the bug in the "Finder" (see below) to no avail. While ignoring the other less intrusive and annoying bugs. Today, I finally gave up and erased the Partition and will install once again on top of my Mavericks Daily Machine when Apple releases the "final version" Final...? and attempt to use Yosemite one more time. This will be the first time from Leopard to Mavericks, that I will be installing a new OS X onto a test partition for fear of rendering my Machine unusable! Thanks, Apple!

I am forced to drag and reset size and position of the Finder Window, resize Side Bar and resize Home Folders (I was able to stop, having to resize Folders after selecting "Use as Default" in "Show View Options") after every restart of the Machine and at various other times while using the Machine. This is extremely disruptive, time consuming and frustrating. There is no acceptable excuse for this not being corrected in Beta 5. The Finder and System Preferences are the heart of OS X and yet they have allowed this bug and many others too continue through 5 beta releases. Disappointed is a gross understatement.

For Apple's lack of concern, respect and appreciation for the Yosemite Beta OS X and it’s testers (Apple Customers Working For Free) with their feedback, is disgusting!

Bluetooth/Continuity STILL not working

So we're at Golden Master and STILL bluetooth pairing and continuity/handoff is NOT working on my 15-inch Retina Macbook Pro.

Most other bugs seem to be fixed but handoff is the main selling point of Yosemite and still doesn't work on my device?

so i am running 14A388b yosemite , is this the version that everyone can download now? or do i have to reformat and install the gm version from MAS?

If you want release quality: use the full installer, not an update

so i am running 14A388b yosemite , is this the version that everyone can download now? …

No, the release is different.

Neither of the third golden master candidates is the same as the golden master.

If you want golden master, release quality wherever possible: you should do more than update. You should make the zero-cost purchase then perform a full installation, using Apple's app – in its entirety.

Don't forget Recovery OS and so on.

For some reason, Apple did not release the final GM as an update. I have downloaded the full installer right now. Updating from GM Candidate 3.0

Thank you guys! I will download the one from MAS and do clean installs.

updated to Yosemite but only to 10.9.5

I updated my MacBookPro to Yosemite, but "about this mac" says 10.9.5, not 10.10. Why did this happen? Should I wait a few more days for a further update?

How did you try to install it. Did you do it through the app store. Were you on 10.9.5 when you tried install 10.10??

OS X 10.10 Yosemite not on the Updates page of App Store; it's not an update

I updated my MacBookPro to Yosemite, but "about this mac" says 10.9.5 …

There was very recently at least one update that would have not changed the version of OS X.

Yosemite is not an update, it's an upgrade (or simply an installation). You'll not find it on the Updates page of App Store.
