Multiple input validation issues exist in Safari's handling of feed: URLs. The issues allow execution of arbitrary JavaScript in the local security zone. This update addresses the issues through improved handling of embedded JavaScript within feed: URLs. Credit to Clint Ruoho of Laconic Security, Billy Rios of Microsoft, and Brian Mastenbrook for reporting these issues.
Downloaded the update (early 2008 MBP15.4/2.4) and the machine became stuck halfway through the install process -- all I can see is the "line spinner" stuck over the monochrome background.
Any suggestions? How much damage can I expect to have if I try to shut it down?
EDIT: panic's over. Apparently letting it brood for five minutes did the trick.
I lost my Airport wireless settings after this update.
When I tried going into Keychain to lookup the pw, I got the message popup saying "access to this is restricted"
After deleting the key, and reassigning it, and then playing around with Keychain, everything's back to normal
I have been using the dev preview with no issues. *knock on wood*![]()
The update wrecked my Wi-Fi also, and setting up my base station is my least favourite activity - it's the most fiddly and unintuitive piece of Apple kit I've ever owned. One hour of my day gone, but it's good to be back online.
No such luck here. I'm stuck at the same place and "letting it brood" for 60 minutes still didn't help. I'm looking for similar help. The computer will not restart/startup.

Anyone else having this problem? Solution?
Apple don't support their old OSes as long as Microsoft does, as they release them much more often. I can't remember the exact policy, but the last security update released for Panther was late 2007. If this policy upsets you, I suggest you use Windows instead.Where are the security updates for Panther, Jaguar and Puma? Microsoft still releases security fixes for Windows 2000, sold from February 2000, and Puma was only released in September 2001.

I checked the Apple website and the last Panther update was November 2007. I believe that Apple's policy is that once an OS is 2 generations old, they end support. As Leopard was released in Oct 2007, this ties in with the final Panther patch being around that time.Since the early OS X development was just getting stuff in an acceptable state, I'll forgive them not supported all the old versions. However, I'd agree that Panther (10.3) security updates should still be coming. There's still a fair number of people running it. Did they just stop this recently? I think I remember a panther security update a few months ago (I have an old Pismo running 10.3.)
