Apple today released the third public betas of iOS 26 and iPadOS 26, allowing the public to test the updates ahead of their September launch. The third public betas come a week after the second public betas. Apple has also released an updated version of the sixth iOS 26 developer beta with a new build number.

Beta testers that have registered on Apple's website can download the iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 updates by opening the Settings app, going to the General section, tapping on Software Update, and choosing the iOS 26 or iPadOS 26 Public Beta options.

iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 feature Apple's Liquid Glass design, with a visual aesthetic that focuses on transparency. Icons, menu buttons, navigation bars, and more reflect and refract light with subtle animations. There are pop-out menus in some areas, tab bars shrink down, and everything has a more rounded look.

There are new Apple Intelligence features like Visual Intelligence for screenshots, updated order tracking in the Wallet app, new features in Reminders, and Live Translation for the Messages, Phone, and FaceTime apps. Image Playground has ChatGPT style options, and Genmoji supports mixing two or more emoji characters to make something new.

2D photos have a more 3D look with a Spatial Scene feature, and Safari has updated navigation. In the Phone app, there are new Call Screening and Hold Assist features that will save you time, while the Messages app supports customizable backgrounds and polls. Apple Music has a DJ-like AutoMix feature, CarPlay has an overhauled interface, there's a new Apple Games app, and Preview has come to the iPhone for the first time.

For more on all of the new features in the updates, we have a dedicated iOS 26 roundup and a separate iPadOS 26 roundup. iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 will launch in September.

Is it me or the ios 26 now looks more like ios 18.6 more they give us update beta no more looking like a glace vision

Very odd that the new dev release now ends with "f" and before with "c", it suppose that the closer the last letter is from "a" means the closer to a final release, so they went farther this time (again)
Not at all what this means. The letter equates to the number of compiles (new tweaks or changes) to a particular build they do before completion. A=1, B=2 etc. So basically they made 3 more compiles or changes of this build before they signed it off and released it. Now the closer to a release they get the less compiles they typically do because there are less changes so you get an "A" build most of the time. But thats not always the case. A "d" build can go to a release candidate potentially.

Okay…I’ll ask: ready for a daily phone driver? I am a okay with small bugs / visual issues.
I would say yes. If you make a backup (PC or MAC) then you can always go back. I was hesitant but bit the bullet with DB6 and did it. Am loving this update so far. Well the 1st DB6 not this one yet. No real issues for me and really liking the changes to looks and how you do things even though it is a bit different than previous iOS versions. Go for IT!

Can anyone confirm whether Blood Oxygen is back in the dev or public beta?

I’ve also found a bug, has to with an Oura ring and the Bluetooth. It only connects when the ring is charging. This started Monday. Was hoping this version would fix the issue. Nope.

Why won't the Contacts app allow me to move addresses of a given contact up or down? That's something that should be added. When I add a new address to a contact, I should be able to move it up to the top, or in second place, or wherever I want it. Would be nice to see that added to the Contacts app in iOS 26.

... what a weird flex. Whom are you showing off for, exactly, with your superior app loading animation speed?
Know where performance matters to average users? Rendering time for websites in safari, or editing tasks in Photos. Actual quality of life stuff, which is where the iPhone has always shone.
Only an android user grasping at straws would fixate on something like app loading animation speed for bragging rights.
Curb your attitude.
The faster opening AND CLOSING were very welcome QOL improvements while they lastet.
iOS only „shines“ for those you don’t care to look further.
You still have to process a video you want to share on WhatsApp or the like, something that sometimes feels like it takes as long as the video itself is.
iOS isn’t as polished as people like you want to think.
Want some proof? Scroll in photos and open the app switcher. It’s a stutter fest and it has been for years.

Stop hating on people that simply like their iPhone feeling more snappy in 2025 than in 2015.

Just like you can’t rearrange calendars in Calendar.
There are still so many places for improvement but no, Liquid Glass.

Maybe I am in the minority, but the new camera app selection slider is a PIA. It is harder to use, and has nothing to do with Liquid Glass. It is just the new way Apple thinks this is better, but it is harder to choose something without going the wrong way or completely bypassing what you want. Hopefully this is better in Beta 3.
This is the most true statement I’ve read.

As I understand it, the letter means the number of revisions of this particular build before it is deemed good for release. So they have tweaked it some more before giving it to the public testers. So an “a” build is not necessarily better than a “b” or “c”, it just means Apple spent more time fine-tuning it.

They won't do that. They want you to buy one device for each person. Allowing multiple users eliminates the need for multiple devices.

multiple users is a misnomer, because obviously on a phone, its not going to be used by multiple people. That's just what its called as it currently exists. I'm sure apple can either come up with a better name or just add the feature inside of settings without even advertising it. We don't use the feature to share our phone with other people. We use it for data segregation. For example, on my phone, I have

-default
-no track
-alt
-kiosk

I would like to buy an iPhone, but I can't do that unless they add the ability to setup this feature. I think others may feel the same. Apple is supposed to be about privacy/security/user satisfaction, and obviously making money. What better way to lean into that ethos than by giving people what they want, but in a way that apple can control?

This. Imagine preferring slow animations that make such a powerful phone feel less powerful. Many of the complaints about iOS is that it just doesn’t feel snappy to complete tasks. I hope the final release goes back to having the smoother, snappy animations.

I like the new look a lot, so it is a matter of taste. I always liked the look of the old Aqua/Windows Aero as well. Obviously, increasing transparency often leads to reduced legibility, and I understand the criticism.

My issue absolutely isn’t with the transparency, I love it. And I love the frutiger aero design era, I just don’t like the iOS7-style UI design and 26 is just a facelift of that, it’s still more or less the same. I think they could’ve done a lot more. Default apps are still exactly the same as they were, almost no changes there. When iOS7 came out, every single default app was redesigned. Here, they changed a few buttons and animations but it’s still a lot like Ive’s flat minimalism.

I had a reply to one my reports in the feedback app last night regarding bad stuttering when scrolling in the Apple News app sugesting it had been fixed in this F build.

Nope it hasnt and still exactly the same scrollig stutter/jitter as seen in Safari. It makes me wonder if they are actually testing and looking at bugs they supposedly fix. :(
