I agree but in contrast to those that think differently than some posters, I have a broad view point and find the Apple ecosystem superior to other solutions. Apple's patenting is innovative and their over all engineering is overly ambitious at times, but Apple appears to me to lead much more than they follow.
I basically tune into this forum to see the constructive ideas that some of the posters are excellent at providing. Many great and knowledgeable users are here, but defending my positive outlook on the Apple products over semantical differences and piecemeal topics is what I should avoid. The Big Picture is what counts for me.

And the 'big picture' is that Apple is systematically removing user control and functionality in their OS, as well as eliminating user's ability to upgrade their hardware in the future.
So to me, that 'big' picture' is a future world of dumbed down disposible computers that people are expected to replace every 2-3 years. Not good for our pocketbooks, and not good for the environment.

I'm not sure what about that makes you so optimistic.

Most all AIO are coming to the market with less upgradabilty so all computer makers are guilty. Apple has made good efforts in the green revolution for computer manufacturers. There are many methods to recycle old computers...my county has like most counties an e-scrap and recycling program. For my ipads and phones I have been able trade for reuse or recycle everytime. I have had no problems reselling other OSX units. So the environment is a good bit heathier than some suspect. Also, i read on this forum of many users who using macs from as late as 2009 and with current operating systems....hardly sounds like you have go back in every two years. I was definetly back in the buyers market every 2 to 3 years when using Win-Tel systems.
The AIO devices are what they are and if one needs all the drama they can buy a true desktop or a Mac pro. Then they can use the OS of their choice and the version they prefer. No one is left out here.
APPLE OSX is growing against the market as the other system makers are declining so I am inclined to believe Apple's direction is solid and in many cases they lead the way for other computing concerns.
As for "optimistic?"....what I want for what I have exists. No optimism necessary.
I see where one can have your concerns and we all have different ways to proceed and thankfully the freedom to do so.
Thanks for your reply.
