Apple today seeded the third beta of OS X El Capitan to public beta testers, one week after seeding the second beta and just under three weeks after first providing the OS X El Capitan beta to the public for testing purposes.

The third public beta follows the launch of the fifth OS X El Capitan developer beta, which was seeded to developers late on Monday afternoon. No outward-facing changes were introduced with the beta, suggesting it's an under-the-hood update with bug fixes and performance improvements.

Beta testers who have signed up for Apple's beta testing program and already have the public beta installed can update through the Software Update mechanism in the Mac App Store for OS X.

OS X 10.11 El Capitan is expected to be released to the public in the fall after the beta testing process is complete.

I started to download this a few minutes ago and it was going fast. Then when I got to 900 MB of 1.2GB it slowed down dramatically... Apple's servers hosed? Or my comcast connection...?

Didn't happen to me. It could be the system cleaning up the files it downloaded ready for installation? Probably just your connection though.

I had that problem with PB2, stopping and resuming the download did the trick. PB3 downloaded very fast, 1 minute on a fast connection.

Mine went really fast this time - waiting while it restarts and installs post-download right now.

I had to re-try a few times on the last PB.

Very nice. Already made me forget about Windows 10 :)

I installed Windows 10 this morning in my Parallels 10, and I can't find the Edge browser! It's missing. IE is there, but nothing else. And there are no 'active' tiles. Either Windows 10 bug or Parallels 10 bug.

I think it was just my connection. After a while of almost zero speed, it finally started going again nice and quick!

Outlook 2011 is STILL not working. Really surprising that this hasn't bubbled up more. I know it's not their primary e-mail client, but Outlook is pretty prevalent, it's not like it's some small third party software.
