You can no longer repair permissions in El Cap as far as i know.

That's dumb, if true. I think the UK guy is using Yosemite and is unable to access El Cap PB because App Store is somehow corrupted. I could be wrong. That is what I thought his comment concerned, though.

Wondering if anyone can help. For the first time in years of OS X releases and all the recent Public Betas there's something gone wrong with Mail since I installed this Beta. I installed as soon as it was released and everything was fine until late this afternoon when i was about halfway through composing a new mail to send out and it crashed. Since then any time I restart it, the unsent message window just flashes on and off very quickly and I can't get it to do anything. I tried the disk utility but as has been noted here the new version only has something called "First Aid" (which runs ok) but nowhere can I find Repair Permissions.

Does anyone have any idea what I could do to get around this issue??

Thanks
Turns out that the mail account I was using is a Gmail account and Mail got totally screwed up with the password for the account. So, maybe it's a Mail problem, a Gmail weirdness or something else?

This sounds more like you are not using the API as intended. This may happen if it is a huge and complex application like Photoshop or Transmit but not for common applications. I have a dozend of apps and had to enhance precisely one line of code since Snow Leopard because of a deprecated function and two more lines because of UI changes. Taking some more time when developing can safe ten times maintenance.

i am referring to supporting new features not simple recompiles for the new os using the old features. in my experiences developing it was always difficult to get good answers to problems using the bleeding edge apis.

That's a legitimate reason. But when you try to race with the early brids, you have to expect that kind of difficulties. The timeframe to get into an API work right has always been more than sufficient. Except when the API is junk, like the iCloud-CoreData-API.

But this is about the public beta. No developer stuff here.

I still don't get the PB3 in my software up
I have the exact same problem. Have you found a solution?

I have the same problem and I've found no solution. My current version is 15A215h.

TBH I'm fed up now. I had this same issue with PB2 and only re-installing PB1 as a clean install solved the issue.

I don't have the time or patience to **** about with this and am giving up on this beta program.

Yeah I am just saying this is one reason I think this stuff comes out half baked and then takes another year to get it stable.

Here's one that I don't see anything about: On a 2014 iMac with 5K Retina display, after a few hours sound playback halts.

I'm using a Bose USB loudspeaker (Bose USB Audio), but the same problem happens with the Internal Speakers selected in Sound.

Anyone else?

me ... i think. will pay closer attention

Thanks. Keep me posted as to what you see.

My only solution, so far, is to restart, which sets things right.

At least until it happens again.

Peace,
Gene

Did they fix blue underline dictation suggestions in mail not offering the options in context menu (as it does for example in stickies)? I reported this (and same in Safari) in Mavericks and they confirmed and wanted me to talk to an Apple engineer but I never got to it. Hope that didn't hold up the process of getting it fixed...

Hi All, I am unable to install beta version 3 at all on my iMac 2009. It's stuck at 18 minutes. Tried reset etc.. No luck. I let it still for 48 hrs still nothing. Any help or advise? I see that public beta 4 was released but the app, store on my iMac shows that version 3 needs to be installed.
