Apple today released new tvOS 16.3.1 and HomePod 16.3.1 software updates, with the software coming two weeks after the tvOS 16.3 and HomePod 16.3 updates were released.

According to Apple's release notes for HomePod software 16.3.1, the update includes general performance and stability improvements. Notes for tvOS 16.3.1 are unavailable as of yet, but are probably similar to the HomePod notes.

The tvOS 16.3.1 update can be downloaded over the air through the Settings app on the ‌‌‌‌‌Apple TV‌‌‌‌‌ by going to System > Software Update. ‌‌‌‌‌Apple TV‌‌‌‌‌ owners who have automatic software updates turned on will be upgraded to ‌tvOS 16.3.1 automatically.

‌‌‌‌‌HomePod‌‌‌‌‌‌ software is installed automatically on the ‌‌‌‌‌‌HomePod‌‌ unless the feature is disabled‌‌‌‌, but the ‌‌‌‌‌‌HomePod‌‌‌‌‌‌ can also be manually updated in the Home app by following the instructions in our HomePod‌‌ update how to.

It shows downloading on the HP2s (not sure about the mini's yet etc), so release vs seed to @chucker23n1 :)

I hope it fixes one issue that the HP2 shipped with tvOS/homepodos 16.0, but if you are running 16.3 on iOS etc (particularly with ADP) it was getting stuck at the configuration stage.

Every HomePod or ATV update breaks something working just fine before.

My ATV 4K Gen 3 remote USBC - volume stopped working. I can see it registering with the light but does nothing on screen.

OG HomePods refuse any commands the first time, must ask twice. Dumbest stuff ever. Wasn't that way before the last update lol.

And Apple wants to charge even MORE for an Ultra iPhone 🤨 - no

16.3 broke automations and scene buttons in my 3 HomeKit homes... 16.2 actually worked flawlessly for me, and after downgrading back to 16.2 they work flawlessly again, but I don't think I can downgrade back to 16.2 any more, so I'm hesitant to try this upgrade out in case it still doesn't work.

If anyone else had the same experience with automations and scene buttons not triggering, and this update fixed it, please share with the class! :)

Thanks!

I shouldn't have to use my phone. I know it's a bluetooth issue. But, my TV and the remote have clear line of sight and it's only like six feet from the TV at all times. It _should_ work.
If it solves an issue with your wife making you get rid it’s a pretty good option.
You could always just use an IR remote if you have one spare that’s not currently being used if using a iPhone is out of the question.

Go into remotes and devices settings and use the Learn Remote function to map all buttons to the IR remote.

Yes I know you shouldn’t have to and you’d it wouldn’t do Siri commands but as a temporary solution it works a treat.
