Apple today released new tvOS 16.4.1 software for the Apple TV models and HomePod 16.4.1 software for the HomePod and the HomePod mini.

According to Apple's release notes for the update on the HomePod, it includes performance and stability improvements. Apple does not provide release notes when installing tvOS updates, but it likely includes similar performance and stability improvements.

‌‌‌‌‌HomePod‌‌‌‌‌‌ software is installed automatically on the ‌‌‌‌‌‌HomePod‌‌ unless the feature is disabled‌‌‌‌, but the ‌‌‌‌‌‌HomePod‌‌‌‌‌‌ can also be manually updated in the Home app by following the instructions in our HomePod‌‌ update how to.

The tvOS 16.4.1 update can be downloaded over the air through the Settings app on the ‌‌‌‌‌Apple TV‌‌‌‌‌ by going to System > Software Update. ‌‌‌‌‌Apple TV‌‌‌‌‌ owners who have automatic software updates turned on will be upgraded to ‌tvOS 16.4.1 automatically.

Hoping it helps straighten out HomeKit architecture as iOS 16.4.1 didn't make much of a difference in performance issues for me..

Nope, still getting the "not responding" notification for smart devices in HomeKit.. I'd say Home may not be fixed until iOS17 at this rate which is ridiculous

The only issue I've really noticed with my HomePod's lately is: I use them as a stereo pair and have relay via eARC enabled, and sometimes the volume won't change on other devices until I reboot the Apple TV and/or HomePod's. Not a huge deal, but would be nice if this fixes it.

It would nice to get stability improvements for the HomePod mini. It always rolls off the nightstand.
"You're nightstanding it wrong" ;)
@klasma You need a Tri-Pod. 🤩

That doesn’t look that much more stable to be honest. ;)

OK, if we're going to go there, I suggest the Sargon stand which apparently kept the God-like Sargon safe & stable for "many thousands of centuries..."

Available from the Star Trek props department for probably <= $50 delivered… or an Apple version for >= $500 + S&H. ;)

Cue Dr. McCoy: "I'm a Doctor, NOT an Apple fan." ;)

Automatic updates never work!

They do work, but it takes about 1-2 weeks after release date until you've got them (is my experience with 2 HomePod minis)
Which is the smart way to do auto-updates. Phased approach with early-adopters and tech nerds leading the charge.

Tech nerds like us will update right away, be more likely to find the issues (and work around them if possible).

General public only get it after it's been vetted.

its network, Ive never had that issue. Homekit is rock solid if you have a good network
