I'm personally speaking about issues following an HomePod OS update. OS 16.0 was very bad, and OS 16.4 even managed to make it worse!

I still have none of the ‘device not found’ or slow to connect issues after updating.

Maybe they introduced a bug that affects how the DHCP caches are made/refreshed.

If you’ve got other issues, static IPs wouldn’t fix it, but it definitely does fix a whole category of flakiness issues that definitely do happen with dynamic IPs.

And it’s certainly plausible for any update to make that flakiness of dynamic IPs worse. 🤷‍♂️

But we're not talking about problems once/week. It's constant problems all day long that people are describing (that only started with OS 16); and I am sure a few of them may chime in here to say they've even tried static IP addresses.

1. Dynamic IP flakiness DOES manifest as problems all day long.

2. Dynamic IP flakiness could certainly get worse suddenly with an update.

3. Only one person claimed they tried static IPs, but they later explained that they didn’t actually give static IPs to all the smart devices (only their Macs and iPhones, which would NOT eliminate DHCP flakiness issues).

4. It would take you under an hour to set it up (only required once ever) and you will be GUARANTEED to eliminate a whole host of HomeKit flakiness. (Though maybe not ALL the issues you are currently seeing.)

This annoys me too. I have a work around though which may help you.

If I say Hey Siri play the ‘really cool’ playlist it will say “sorry I couldn’t find that playlist in your Apple Music” BUT if I say “Hey Siri, play one of my playlists” Siri willthen ask me which one, and if reply “really cool”it willthrn play my really cool playlist just fine.

This works as a workaround about 95% of the time.
Go figure!

I hope it helps you until this bug is fixed
Will certainly try this, thank you!
