Apple today released tvOS 18, the newest version of the tvOS operating system that runs on the Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD models.

tvOS 18 can be downloaded using the Settings app on the ‌Apple TV‌. Open up Settings and go to System > Software Update to get the new software. ‌Apple TV‌ owners who have automatic software updates activated will be upgraded to tvOS 18 automatically.

The tvOS 18 update adds InSight, an Apple TV+ feature that's like Amazon X-ray. It offers information about actors, characters, and music from Apple TV+ movies and shows in real-time. On the iPhone, the Apple TV Remote feature includes InSight information.

Enhance Dialogue is getting better with machine learning and computational audio improvements, plus it now works with HDMI-connected speakers, AirPods, and other Bluetooth devices. If you have a 21:9 projector, you will be able to use it with tvOS 18 starting later this year.

There's an option for Live Captions for FaceTime calls, and Apple is adding new screen saver options, including Portraits, TV and Movies, and Snoopy. Apple says the Snoopy screen saver is coming later this year.

not showing any updates for me from Public Beta.

Where is Snoopy!?

The RC didn’t have 21:9 support. Any indication the final release has it?

Amazing they’re still supporting my Apple TV HD, that’s older than my iPhone 8 Plus my GF iPhone SE first generation and yet Apple is continuing support.
I think this is the only device I’ll update to iOS 18 just in case they change their mind. :p

I upgraded to TVOS 18 on my Apple TV 4K and I lost the Up Next top shelf on the TV app. It just shows the Apple TV logo. I tried toggling to what to watch and back and it’s the same.

Any idea how to get the up next top shelf back?

Happened to me too. It's the only reason I was keeping the Apple TV app in the top strip...

I tried signing out of iTunes and back in but that didn’t fix this.

I didn’t try completely removing my account from the Apple TV or resetting it. I’d rather not do either as that will mess with Apple Home automations.

Maybe I missed 'the detail' in a prior MR posting, but I find it a little sad I had to go to a non-Apple-related-news-site to find much more detailed info. Also didn't realize my 1stGen4K wouldn't be receiving certain features; same for the HD model.

either try rebooting or sign out of your Apple Account and back in.

Usually when that happens for me actually opening the tv app and letting things load up will return the up next info.
