When I set top shelf to What to Watch, it works, but when I set it to Up Next, it doesn’t.
This is the second or third time they've broken it after trying to remove it. Feels like they don't use or test the best feature.

So why no Headphone Accommodations for the Apple TV? When Apple realeased this feature and limited it to its own (most pricey) headphones only, they said its because the heavy processing is done by the H1 chip inside the headphones when I asked why this feature got pulled from working with my old headphones. So if it's not dependent on the hardware that is streaming the sound the Apple TV should be able to have it? It would be great for movies!

Have seen enough anecdotes of ATV bricking with tvOS 18 so I’m gonna wait. Think they were mostly HD or 4K Gen 1. Would probably be best for Apple to stop supporting these models, sure it’s nice to get updates forever but it’s a weird policy for a company that supports planned obsolescence on their other products. I have the 4K 1st Gen and will buy the next model whenever it’s released.

I also have the Apple TV app Up next feature issue. I thought it was my WiFi extender at first, as it’s usually that, so I switched my WiFi band. Tried changing the setting from Up next to What to Watch a few times as well, and I’ve just tried a complete factory reset which hasn’t helped either.

Apple’s software quality control has been poor for quite a while now. I understand that coding isn’t easy (I’m currently learning how to make iOS apps), but little bugs like this shouldn’t be missed.

WTF kind of major engineering could possibly be needed for a screensaver??
I’m assuming the one that would finally let you select which screensavers you want to see out of the hundreds available, instead of the same dozen old ones they dictate to you.

I haven’t checked yet but my guess is that’s not what they invested the “major” engineering resources into.

Haha no I know I was just being sarcastic but seriously, it can't be THAT difficult they couldn't spare a couple design and engineering people... Hell I'd bet even a team of interns could tackle it. Especially if they had the whole summer and it was their only project :p

Having trouble staying connected to my iPhone hotspot, keeps disconnecting, it’s not ready yet folks. o_O

Oh I understand and you’re totally right, I don’t get why they possibly would need major engineering resources for that particular project.

Unless, they completely rewrote it from scratch and made it configurable like the screensaver app “Aerial” on the Mac, but that’s just never going to happen.

It’s a shame, the screensaver could be great but they have just been ignoring it.

I love the Aerial screensaver app! I used to tinker with it all the time when I had it installed prior to the Sonoma update last year, then I stopped using it because it didn't seem necessary to me anymore now that Apple provided basically the same core functionality built-in. Plus in my experience it would break after certain macOS updates or if I installed other apps that used similar underlying frameworks, etc. Which is not the fault of the developers behind Aerial of course, but it did eventually start to add up in frustration

Yes, I had a similar experience with Aerial. But I do like it once in a while to check out the new screensaver additions.

Right. I LOVE the underwater ones but the Waves Breaking on the shores of Tahiti, the moonfish one and that Godforsaken black and blue smoke looking on are not good. I had the best batch a couple years ago and set the download rate to "never" so I was golden but one of the recent betas changed it to once a week so I'm on another quest to find the perfect set so I can switch it back to "never".

Yeah, it’s insane that we still can’t pick the ones we like. The sheer ignorance of the screensaver Product team is staggering.
