Is there a podcast app yet? I haven't been following atv4 since my initial disappointment was great enough to swap my atv3 back in. I didn't return it, but I haven't used it in a month either... I guess I'll fire it up when I get home tonight and see what's new.

Agreed.
If you have an old Apple TV remote or universal remote, use that to navigate to the text input. You will get a square keyboard layout. But for the touch remote, the single line actually works better IMO (since you can move quickly over a distance by flicking your thumb, but navigating a grid in small steps is somewhat cumbersome compared to a traditional click remote).

The remote app is working in the new update.

Darn you Apple. Just enable SIRI on other countries too. We can speak English too you know...
I promise I will not search for movies with Mathew Mcconaughey - even though when I switched to US apple store and I enabled Siri - I was able to search for his name - Siri had no problems understanding me.

There you go Apple. Now just enable it!

Really hope 9.1 improves performance. The previous build has felt very slow and just overall buggy.

We don't care much about AirPlay sources and not everyone has an Apple Watch (I do). They need to update the Remote app because text input is awful without the keyboard. By now I can fly back and forth on the single line of letters, but a QWERTY on screen keyboard would even be an improvement...

I don't agree. I think a QWERTY keyboard would be less efficient to use with the trackpad.

Yeah, if you guys could go ahead and get the remote app updated now - that'd be great.
IT WORKS!!!! No app update needed! Just update to tvOS 9.1 and go to "remotes and devices" and click remote app! Make sure you sign into homesharing. My watch and 6S both work to control and the keyboard pops up on my phone while searching through apple tv. The remote app didn't need an update! PRAISE JESUS!

Never gonna happen.
I just think it's funny how Tim Cook was gushing over the fact that he could use his Apple Watch to control his AppleTV and now that feature is completely nonexistent. Funny looking back at old videos of him talking about it

It does work now. Update to tvOS 9.1 and sign into homesharing under remotes and devices. Don't even need to update the watch or phone to the latest release.

You didn't read the post thoroughly. This isn't about the AppleWatch. It's about integrating the functions of the remote app into iOS through Handover rather than needing a separate app with its own redundant UI and play sources.

AppleWatch gives hints about it with the unused AirPlay button but it's not the only way to control AppleTV. If you're listening to music on AppleTV, it'll appear in Handover on your iPhone where you can drag up to reveal the controls. If you tell Siri on your iPhone to "Play the latest episode of Game of Thrones on my AppleTV", it'll start playing. No need for a separate app.

If anyone has issues getting the update installed, perform a restart of the box (via the settings menu)

I had issues in that the update would download, but not install (it'd say the update failed to download, despite the prior screen saying it did)

Holy crap really?! THIS should be the headline when people talk about this update
