Between the addition of Siri search for Apple Music, the overdue enabling of the iOS Remote app and the significant streaming playback/buffering improvements, the 4th gen Apple TV now finally seems ready for primetime. It's a bit unfortunate that 9.1 is what 9.0 truly should have been, but I'm just glad that it is finally here.

This is bullcrap, the remote app does not work like it did before. Before I could navigate through my share libraries and play content from them. What a jip.

They fixed the storage issue! Before the update I had almost 12 gigs of storage used. Right after the update it's down to just over 4, which feels right!

I have a suggestion for Apple... Look, if you make a app for the iPhone and iPad that mirrors (just so you can open the apps and interact with them) the Apple TV 4 in the app, and with keyboard features when you need to search etc. That would be freaking awesome!

(I owns the idea now) ;)

bummer: i was a bit late it seems, hehe :)

I already read the post dude haha. A keyboard is still needed to enter emails, passwords, and search third party apps. Plan and simple. I understand your prediction and I see it as an improvement. But saying there's no need for a keyboard/app for entering long credentials is silly. Regardless: the Remote app works again so all is okay finally.

Why would you need a separate app for a keyboard? Apple is solving similar problems in iOS and OSX with Continuity. While it's not yet implemented in tvOS, the framework is there with Handover. If a keyboard pops up on your AppleTV, it would show up in Handover. just swipe up to reveal the keyboard on your iPhone. Having a separate app for that is pretty clunky if you think about it.

I don't agree. I think a QWERTY keyboard would be less efficient to use with the trackpad.

Or, you know, Apple could provide both options instead of forcing their will on everyone. Another example would be the background color of the screen. White really is awful in a darkened room.

My biggest issue with Apple TV is that TV shows in a large collection show each series as an individual line at the top menu level. So scrolling to something towards the end is a pain. Especially with the touch remote. (I currently use the old remote for scrolling). I have about 70 TV series, each with between 1 - 10 seasons. This equates to about 300 to 400 lines to get to the bottom.

I think another level needs to be added for just TV show then series under it and then Episodes.

I suggested to Apple.

If this is an annoyance to anyone else please drop apple a note. :)

Umm, where have you been for the last 15 years? Apple isn't really about "choices." They culturally, since the return of SJ have been about deciding what they think is the best interface for something, and putting it out there. For better or worse. It seems to be working.

Is anyone having issues loading a movie in iTunes since the new update. Tried to watch Jurassic park tonight and it said it would take 5 hours 38 minutes until it will play. On 9.0 I had no issues at all.

Went to myps4, turned on vudu and rented a different movie that loaded instantly. Seems to only be my Apple TV since the update. I have Verizon fios 50mbps

Any suggestions?

Reboot your Apple TV.
Reboot your router.

Is anyone else having poor performance after TVos 9.1 update. Before the update the remote worked smoothly now I find remote response can be laggy, also firmware update seems to have broken many apps. Pandora also is not working on 9.1 just hangs.

Same experience - everything is laggy.
WI-FI speed has dropped for me.
I am already waiting for 9.1.1 or 9.2 in the hope they will fix things.
