Apple today released a new 4E64 firmware update for the Beats Fit Pro headphones that came out last November, updating the earbuds from the prior 4B65 firmware that came out at the end of November.

Apple does not offer information on what's included in refreshed firmware updates for the Beats Fit Pro, so we don't know what improvements or bug fixes the firmware brings.

There's no standard way to upgrade the ‌Beats‌‌ software, but firmware is generally installed over-the-air while the earbuds are connected to an iOS device. Putting the Beats Fit Pro‌‌‌‌‌ in the case, connecting them to a power source, and then pairing them‌‌‌‌‌ to an iPhone or an iPad should force the update after a short period of time.

Beats Fit Pro are some of Apple's newest Beats earbuds, featuring flexible wingtips to keep them in the ear, a charging case, silicone tips, Active Noise Cancellation, spatial audio with dynamic head tracking, and an H1 chip for "Hey Siri" support.

If we find notable changes after the firmware update is installed, we'll share details, but the software likely includes performance improvements and bug fixes rather than outward-facing changes.

I actually have a pair of these and I noticed on my iPhone when I go to Settings -> Bluetooth -> Beats Fit Pro ⓘ, I can see that the version number is still 4B65. I guess it will switch to 4B64 eventually after the firmware is upgraded. It is interesting that the "upgrade" goes from 65 to 64. That's kind of unusual, isn't it? I don't think I've ever seen a case where the numbers go DOWN with an upgrade instead of up. Oh well. I imagine this "upgrade" is just something allowing it to work with the new devices Apple just announced last week or something like that. I'm not expecting it to make any significant difference for me, using a 2020 M1 MacBook Air, a 2019 11" iPad Pro, and an iPhone 12 Pro. But, it's nice to see Apple is staying on top of the firmware updates!

Edit: Oh, forget it, that was stupid on my part. The upgrade goes from 4B65 to 4E64. So, while 64 is less than 65, E is greater than B. Got it.

Wait, so, there's no way to force an update and we don't even know what the update is? Yikes.
Yep- welcome the the world of Apple wireless earbuds. AirPods and Beats firmware updates alike have no release notes or “check for updates” button or procedure to “force” them to update.

Though from what I’ve seen around here (I don’t own either personally) it seems the method the article describes is generally a pretty reliable way to make the update happen in short order.

does anyone know what apple could possibly add to an Airpods Pro 2 that would make it better than the Airpods Pro 1 or this Beats Fit Pro? The way I see it, removing the stem, increasing battery life and sound quality is all that can really be done to it, but is simply not worth waiting for. Should I just pull the trigger on this? Does Apple branded earbuds have any features over the beats fit pro?

Just looked at mine and I have the new fw. Didn't notice any difference this morning when I used them.

Also, Find My has worked for me for a while.
Beats Fit Pro currently have the old style Find My, they don't have the Find My Network like the AirPods Pro have, I'm sure Apple said they were going to add it later for the Beats.

‘Conversation Boost’ is an accessibility feature available on the IPP’s that I’d love to see upgraded on the BFP’s. We shall see . . . . . Anyone who has updated yet can confirm or not?

Just checked, and mine were already updated to the new version. I did happen to have them plugged in for charging.

Maybe I'm a minority, but I wouldn't use a Beats product if they were given to me. Right on craigslist they'd go.
FWIW I felt EXACTLY the same as you! However, I bought them because they are a great fit for me, and it turns out to be one of my best buying decisions because they are brilliant. The grey is a much more subtle colour than the other colours in terms of screaming the brand.

Maybe now I'll be able to see the battery status of open, active case even without the headphones in. Also the promised APP level of Find My Network pretty please (i.e. searchable and pingable even when in case) ???

But even with these two issues, they're still better than my already great APPs.

Tip: Another way to see your current FW version is
Code:
Settings -> General –> About -> Beats Fit Pro
Just like with regular APPs/AirPods.

Minority for a reason - Beats Fit Pro are the best earpods on the market bar none if you're into any sort of sport, and definitely top the league for any other use.
I'll thinking about going to these from the AirPod Pros. The APPs simply don't stay sealed in my ears even with the slightest movements. I've got these after-market silicone "wings" that help a lot, but I have to remove them (and not lose them) to use the charger case. Grrrr.

FWIW, I just recently got the older PowerBeats Pros (earhook style). The way they stay put and don't move is straight up incredible... after years of rocking $30 Amazon chinese no-names, holy crap night and day... they sound way better as well, obviously. I wish I bought them years ago. I'm curious to try the new Fits, but I am accustomed to the earhooks so I stuck with that.

That's what I did. I don't regret it. The Beats Pro stay in way better, they don't have a stem, which is good for me when I'm wearing a helmet (or even a tuque), and the physical button is much easier to activate while I'm actually doing something, much to my surprise. I loved my AirPods Pro, but the Beats are better in every non-desk situation that I'm in. (Meetings were slightly better with the APPs.)

I bought the AirPods Pro twice and even top aftermarket buds. both times had to return. Ear pain and fall out during running. Got the AirPods 3 and those constantly fall out and mine fell into toilet and flushed down. Got Beats Fit Pro and am blown away. the more times I wear them, the less I feel it in ear. Great audio bass quality. Seals in wont fall out. I love the hidden button on each side.
