Funny, just used them and said to someone "The airpod pro must be breaking, the noise canceling has gotten lousy." Now I read a firmware update was just released. Hmm...

And boy, do they drain battery while doing nothing now.

Check yours aren’t in the recall batch, when I took mine (belatedly) into an Apple Store they had 4 or 5 defects and got them replaced for free. They’re fantastic now ☺️
Was this recent as one of my buds starting showing signs of static sound. I own the first generation pair and did get one of the buds replaced at the time.

According to the recall program page, it says it covers affected AirPods Pro for 3 years after the first retail sale of the unit.

Airpods 2 on 6B34, after IOs update to 17.3 it no longer pause the music if one airpod is removed.

Can’t see the point. My AirPods Pro started buzzing and humming, especially when on transparency or ANC. Took them
Back to the Apple Store just before the warranty ended and they swapped them for 2 new ones. 3 months later (with no warranty) they are booming and buzzing even worse than the original ones. Won’t be spending money on AirPods again. The Bose ones I have are leagues ahead.

This “Russian Roulette“ approach by Apple for firmware updates really does not make things easier than updates on user demand. Why does Apple allow user instigated firmware updates on many of my other Apple devices, and not my headphones???

The instructions mentioned in this article for determining the current firmware number don't work on my iPhone 14 Pro Max running iOS 17.

The article states:
  • Open the Settings app.
  • Tap General.
  • Tap About.
  • Tap ‌‌‌‌‌AirPods‌‌‌‌‌.
  • Look at the number next to "Firmware Version."
However on my iPhone, it's:

• Open Settings.
• Tap the AirPods Pro button.
• Scroll down to see the firmware version.

My original AirPods Pro are making the screeching/static noise in the right ear again, like everyone else is saying. Why do they have to mess with the firmware for stuff that’s working perfectly fine?

I hope this addresses the fact that half the time I put in my APP 2, they won't go into Adaptive mode because this has become unchecked somehow:

I wonder if this will fix the crackling noises I've been hearing using NC & Transparency modes.
That was an issue with the original gen AirPods Pro’s and required replacements. It was a common failure mode for APPs. At one time the replacements were free. I don’t know how they handle that now. You should reach out to Apple Support. Maybe they have an extended support program for this issue.

Found a set of gen1 pro in the surf in their case last week - cleaned the algae and iron flakes (that sprouted from every magnetic surface) off them. Dried them out, powered them up, paired them, found the owner's name and, with a little sluething, got them back to her. I have no idea if they still produced sound but was amazed that the case and both AirPods connected after wallowing in the ocean for a week.
Anyway, for my purposes I just want Transparency to work the same whether the were last talked to by IOS or by MacOS - as it is now macOS doesn't set them up the same and unless I'm out of range of all of my Macs I have no idea whether transparency will work each time I put them in (I have them set to only connect automatically only to IOS - apparently doesn't stop other devices from resetting them).

They do in the UK at least - I got mine replaced a week or two ago.

Don’t like the shape of any airpods (max not included) since airpods 2 so I buy a new set once a year or so. Very useful headphones for sleeping.

My AirPods updated after a while, without being connected to a power source. Just be patient. Pair them with your phone, put the AirPods near your phone and wait. I only have the USB-C cable next to me right now to charge my phone. My AirPods Max did the same when I received them. When you want to update fast, use a cable.
