hey- someone said that intel may be discontinuing the c2d in june- is that true? does anyone have links or info? Because if so, that would mean that the c2d 13" wouldn't last long.
Why would it matter, the chips would still work.

update

The 15" and 17" models seem to be worth updating to, but the 13" update is weak. If Jobs wants to really make an update worth noting, drop the superdrive and put in the i3 or i5 into the 13" with an ISP screen and 2 hdds. C2D is out-of-date!

MBP 15" Core i7
500GB @ 7200rpm
Hi-Res Glossy screen
Razer Deathadder Mac edition gaming mouse
Seagate Free Agent 1TB external HDD
Sennheiser HD 555 Audiophile Headphones
24" Apple Cinema LED screen

LET THE OWNAGE BEGIN PEOPLE!!!!!!

Of course he was surprised. Why would not he be? At the time when every computer manufacturer offers BluRay, obviously one should expect Apple to offer it too. Then of course we are not sure anymore if we should even consider Apple to be a computer manufacturer.

Thanks. I'm done with "Hal" and his "crew", it's obviously impossible to explain reality or even basic math to people who go around deaf from having their Eustachian tubes blocked by certain CEO's appendages down their throats.

I'm not the one infatuated with Steve Jobs (and it wouldn't be surprising to learn this obsession extends into your dreams even). I have searched through all your previous posts and find nothing of technical merit whatsoever. Merely rantings and ravings filled with frustration over iTunes, iPods, and iPads, etc.

Get a grip already.

In other news, i haven't seen these posted around here yet:

Enough is enough

Let's get off the attempt to out insult each other and post something relevant to the thread here.

By the way, has anyone received their "built to order" MBP yet?

If they have they aren't posting here. Mine is still "Not yet shipped".

The MBP 13" has a FW800 port. Your old Macbook has half the battery life. It has very very poor GPU performance (using an Intel GPU) compared to even the older 9400m, the 320m blows it out of the water. Aluminium body vs your polycarbonate, LED backlit screen vs your CCFL. Mini Display port capable of much higher resolution output than your mini DVI. Backlit keyboard.

And it still has the line-in port, combined with the out port. Since it has a microphone built in, seems like that doesn't really matter (and USB headsets today are prevalent, compared to 3 years ago when you had dual plug headsets).

CPU GHZ is the last spec you should look at, compared to a 3 year old Macbook, the MBP 13" is a nice upgrade.

For you, it is a very good upgrade. But, if your Macbook does everything you want, don't upgrade. Upgrading for the sake of upgrading is just a waste of money. Some people just get an "itch" to upgrade and do, and in the end, all they've done is create some debt for themselves.

Nice way of putting it. Unfortunately the new 13" MBP has a major short coming.
Compared to my late 2008/Early 2009 MB 13" Aluminum Unibody in my sig, the differences are:
Pro - gets FW800, SD card slot, and Nvidia 320M.
uMB_Aluminum Classic: Dual sound ports!

For me I NEED to have the line it port because I'd like to learn Guitar this summer 2nd time around and have a LINE IN to record. not carry yet another hardware in my knapsack just to record & hear what I'm recording!
Also the 320M is great. The lack of FW800 means nothing to me as I have nothing that uses that port - only my Mac Mini and thus I need an iSight for.

To be honest, lack of using USB3.0 was a mistake by Apple engineers! Hopefully the refresh silent bump in Aug-Oct will have it along with the rumored FW3200 spec (which I think is already finalized).
My MB still has legs.

The BIGGEST shortcuming of the current MBP13" is the cpu.
its the SAME P8600 C2D that mine has. I also have 4GB RAM and a 320GB HDD.

Shipping window pushed out

Im currently waiting to on a shipment with a macbook pro with exactly those specs!

I ordered the 15" i7 with Hi-Res Glossy on Tuesday. Still nothing about shipping or anything.

Just went to the apple online store and the shipping window for the same config has been pushed back to 5-7 business days from 1-3.

A lot of shipments are probably held up with the volcano grounding flights.
Why would that matter? The grounded flights are in Europe, while Apple shipments (assuming you mean the ones that come from China) are flying over Pacific.

When have hubs in Europe that are blocked it will have an effect everywhere. How many of those planes that would be heading to China are stuck in Europe now.

BTO 17" MBP just shipped ETA 21 Apr

Mine still displays "Not Yet Shipped." I didn't place my order until 5PM on Tuesday, even though I was up from 6AM that morning looking over the machines.

I ordered my BTO 17" i7 MBP on the day they were released. I just recieved my email saying it has shipped with an ETA of 21 Apr. Hope is in site!
