A 3rd party finger print scanner should have an embedded chip inside which could connect to wifi devices and do anything is decides.

And how would that affect the security of you phone without the enclave being breached? Also, that scenario sounds very contrived and relatively useless to whoever would attempt it

I'm only stating that it would be possible. In certain circles the echelon, I can imagine this being quite useful.
