Apple today released watchOS 11.0.1, a minor update for the watchOS 11 operating system that came out in September. watchOS 11.0.1 comes three weeks after Apple released watchOS 11.

‌watchOS 11‌ can be downloaded for free on an iPhone running iOS 18 by opening up the Apple Watch app and going to General > Software Update. To install the new software, the Apple Watch needs to have at least 50 percent battery and it needs to be placed on a charger.

watchOS 11.0.1 introduces bug fixes for the Apple Watch. It fixes an issue that could cause the Music app to crash, plus it addresses a bug that could cause the battery to drain faster than expected. There's also a fix for a bug that could cause the touchscreen to be unresponsive on the latest Apple Watch models, and a bug that could cause unexpected restarts. Apple's full release notes are below.
This update includes bug fixes for your Apple Watch, including:

- Apple Watch may unexpectedly restart for some users
- Music app may unexpectedly quit when loading media
- Battery may drain more quickly than expected
- Touch screen may be temporarily unresponsive for some Apple Watch Series 9, Apple Watch Series 10, and Apple Watch Ultra 2 users
- Messages may unexpectedly quit when replying to a message with a shared Apple Watch face
watchOS 11 introduces a new Smart Stack, the Vitals app, support for Live Activities, and more, with details available in our watchOS 11 roundup.

I'm hoping this fixes the disappearing Infograph sub-dial complications on my AWU.

[edit: not fixed]

I went to go update my S7 and somehow it's already on 11.1. o_O

I did get an alert a while back stating there was an update, but noticed it was a beta version. I turned off the beta updates, and the notice went away. Apparently it still must have installed overnight. My phone has never been on 18.1, but luckily the watch still seems to work despite being on a newer version. Or does the watchOS/iOS compatibility not matter with minor updates?

Thank goodness for this. I took my S10 off the charger at 7am fully changed. Got the 10% warning at 2pm. All I've done all day is sit at my computer working, nothing that should have drained the battery SO FAST. So I'm praying this fixes it.

I am so disappointed with my new Watch Series 10. I've had the battery problem several times. I had to walk around half the day with an empty watch on my wrist. My Apple Watch 10 feels like it could let me down at any moment. Total loss of trust in Apple as a brand. Then they keep talking about how it can save my life... they should talk more internally about the battery and how to keep it alive.

Anyone knows if this update brings sleep apnea detection to Canada now that it’s been approved by Santé Canada?

Ok. I installed the update and checked. It doesn't.

Therapy?

I may have spoken too soon about the Digital Crown non-recognised presses. Although it didn't do it at all last night in the hour or so between installing 11.0.1 and going to bed, it's done it again this morning a few times.

Not had any problems with battery drain (or any of the other issues mentioned here) but I did have a problem with optimised charging apparently no longer working. The watch always charges to 100% now. I tried turning optimised charging off and on again but doesn't seem to have fixed it.

Anyone else had this? Does the patch fix it?

i have the same problem - sometimes i need to press 2-3 times to register press on the crown

This battery drain issue must really be something, if they're specifically calling it out. New major releases of WatchOS have pretty much all significantly hit a watch's battery life... which then gradually improves again through the .2 and sometimes .3 releases.

The changelog even makes it sound like a certain amount of battery drain is to be expected. They are just fixing the "more quickly than expected" part :p
