Apple Releases watchOS 11.5 With New Pride Watch Face

Apple today released watchOS 11.5, the fifth major update to the operating system that runs on the Apple Watch. watchOS 11.5 comes over a month after Apple released watchOS 11.4, and it is compatible with the Apple Watch Series 6 and later, all Apple Watch Ultra models, and the Apple Watch SE 2.

watchOS 11.5 can be downloaded on a connected iPhone by opening up the Apple Watch app and going to General > Software Update. To install the new software, the Apple Watch needs to have at least 50 percent battery and it needs to be placed on a charger.

The watchOS 11.5 update adds a new Pride Harmony watch face and it fixes an issue that could prevent the iPhone from showing a notification when the Apple Watch battery is fully charged. Apple's release notes are below.

This update includes new features, improvements, and bug fixes, including:

- A new Pride Harmony watch face
- Buy with Apple Watch is available when purchasing content within the Apple TV app on a 3rd party device
- Resolves an issue that may prevent your iPhone from showing a notification when the watch battery is fully charged

So Tim Cook supports pride with a new watch face and strap which Apple will make money from but no longer supports the Product RED initiative that raises funds to fight HIV and AIDS. He has priorities wrong IMO.

I’m home today so watch is connected to home WiFi. On watch went into settings, and initiated the update directly from the watch.

Yea, same scenario for me, except couldn’t initiate from watch, and started with 32 min remaining for the download …

I have no issue with a Pride Face or what not but why not other causes? Fighting Cancer, Autism, Disabilities Awareness, etc. It would be nice to spread the love to other causes. A lot of people suffer silent illness’s and such.

no, did watch first. just initiating the update from the watch and not using the phone hasn't worked for me since watchOS 11. And what I mean by that is to download directly to watch, not using BT between AW and iPhone.

Pride is the chosen cause. Just wish they still did Product RED as it doesn't make sense to drop those products. You'd think Product RED/Pride would go hand in hand. Must be more sales in Pride category vs Product RED.

What I did was I updated phone first. Then after iPhone completed on watch opened settings->general->update and started the update process. After a fashion it completed.

Don’t remember if I interacted with the watch again. But when I started the update the phone and watch were feet apart.

the "fixation" in 'pride' and other inclusive designs coming out with OS updates is they tend to fall close to the month that it is celebrated the Unity designs came out around February (in the US, February is noted as black history month)...likewise June is pride month.
