I have no issue with a Pride Face or what not but why not other causes? Fighting Cancer, Autism, Disabilities Awareness, etc. It would be nice to spread the love to other causes. A lot of people suffer silent illness’s and such.
I think you answered your own question.

They suffer in silence…

Don’t remember ifnininteractednwjth then watch again. But when I started the update the phone and watch were feet apart.
I see you suffer from the same iOS/iPadOS problem as I do, where the "n" key sneakily creeps downwards and tries to pretend it's the spacebar. Happens to me often enough that I really wish they'd teach autocorrect about this (not that specific words should be spelled differently but rather that if an unknown word could be two known words with an "n" or "m" in between, at least offer the resulting words as a suggestion).

Thank you, CarlJ. Don’t know howninmissed it when I proof read it before posting. I did correct the post.

And the above was intentional lol.

So Tim Cook supports pride with a new watch face and strap which Apple will make money from but no longer supports the Product RED initiative that raises funds to fight HIV and AIDS. He has priorities wrong IMO.
And will make million dollar donations to that guy...

The weather complication on the California watch face is still broken, but hey guys, new pride face like it's 2015!!

Why do companies feel the need to have their products associated with sexuality? It's very odd.

I hope I'm not offending anyone here. That's not my intention. But you have to admit this is super bizarre, right?

Can't we just have cool tech products without focusing on sexuality? Can't people create their own backdrops to express themselves? That's what everyone else does with the things they like. So why impose these designs onto every user?

They're not imposing these designs on anyone (unlike their criminal 30% rent-seeking of developers). They're simply making them available. I support gay rights but I don't use these wallpapers. It's a non-issue for me, and should be for most people. However, with right-wing hate directed at the LGBTQ+ community (among others), I am in complete solidarity with large tech companies lending their support for marginalized communities. Until we can shape a better world than this, this will have to do.

Putting them on everyone’s devices is indeed imposing.

Why aren’t there backdrops/themes for other communities? I can think of many potential communities — Christians, Jews, people with Autism, disabled people, Veterans, etc. Would you be ok if your device had backdrops/themes available for each of those, and more?

The fixation on sexuality — and ONLY sexuality — is objectively strange. Why aren’t other communities represented?

How come the gays get a gay pride parade and I don't. Where's the gay pride parade for regular style guys

it rocks how when two women kiss each other and have a joint bank account that is Sexuality but two people with presumably mismatched junk doing the same is not "objectively strange"

It's more than sexuality. This is something folks are beaten and even killed about. As of 2024, several countries including Iran, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Mauritania, Uganda, and parts of Nigeria and Somalia enforce the death penalty for homosexual acts. Making an ability to show some support doesn't hurt anyone; just don't use them if you don't want to express your support, too.

Yet companies on social media will update their logo for Pride Month, yet in countries in the Middle East, they won't change the logo...

We have an update and the one thing they choose to convince users to update is a new pride watch face??
Seriously?

It is a bit odd to say you support something so strongly, but as long as their conditions. They should put these updates across the board or don’t do the updates at all. Put their money where their mouth is. Apple isn’t catering to a market in this case, so they say, they’re supporting a ‘marginalized’ group. So, with that in mind, they should be supporting them in the Middle East as a show of solidarity, etc

Some iPhone wallpapers will solve that…

Many of those countries also enforce the death penalty on people who convert to Christianity.

Why doesn’t Apple make Christian backdrops/themes that they put on everyone’s devices? You wouldn’t have to use them if you don’t want to.
