What is this fixation with 'pride' stuff in iOS updates!
Why do you care?

I really don't. I just see it as a waste of valuable resources towards deploying a product of trivial increment in general, is all.Why do you care?
When "regular style" guys are repeatedly singled out for being regular style in a widespread manner, and widely shamed, discriminated against, beaten up, and sometimes tortured and killed, specifically because they are "regular style" and for no other reason, then maybe there will be a reason for them to push back, band together, and march in a parade. But usually, it's those "regular style guys" who are doing most of the shaming, discrimination, beating, torturing, and murdering. How come the gays get a gay pride parade and I don't. Where's the gay pride parade for regular style guys
Oh they do release new wallpapers for everyone, every single year, with the new iOS release - around the same time that the forum here is busy complaining that Apple has conformed to the latest Unicode standard by implementing new emoji - perhaps that's why you missed it. They also release one or two new bits to mark Pride month, around this time of the year, likely in part because it's shortly before WWDC, when public focus shifts to the next version of iOS.Would be nice for them to release more wallpapers for everyone, regardless of your sexual preference
Sorry, did you buy the "Gay iPhone 16"? The "iPhone 16 Super Gay Edition"? I didn't know they offered those. I never seen them focus on sexuality. Can't we just have cool tech products without focusing on sexuality?

Nope. I did with iOS 18.4.1 yesterday.Does it require iOS 18.5 installed first?
Rampant severe discrimination ? Wide shame, torture and beatings ? The language used here is over-the-top.When "regular style" guys are repeatedly singled out for being regular style in a widespread manner, and widely shamed, discriminated against, beaten up, and sometimes tortured and killed, specifically because they are "regular style" and for no other reason, then maybe there will be a reason for them to push back, band together, and march in a parade. Until that point, of rampant severe discrimination against "regular style guys" for them simply existing, trying to organize a "regular style guy" parade is just going to make them look like the people who responded to the civil rights marches in the 60's, by having their own marches, wearing white robes and hoods. Effectively marching against something, rather than for something.
I regretfully concede that "it is impossible to convey sarcasm in writing" is a boring lie that is apparently becoming increasingly true every dayWhen "regular style" guys are repeatedly singled out for being regular style in a widespread manner, and widely shamed, discriminated against, beaten up, and sometimes tortured and killed, specifically because they are "regular style" and for no other reason, then maybe there will be a reason for them to push back, band together, and march in a parade. I am a citizen of a western country that is trying to legally mandate conservative christian style conversion therapy as a first line public health defense against the existence of transgender people. It's getting Very Bad very quickly dudeRampant severe discrimination ? Wide shame, torture and beatings ? The language used here is over-the-top.
Any company is allowed to choose its causes. The "what about" argument rarely gets us anywhere. You're free to choose a different company more aligned with your priorities if you prefer.
Easy.

I don't care about them being "pride" faces, but "Pride Harmony" is terrible. Just a jumbled mess. Why won't they allow 3rd party faces? Emerald Sequoia made AMAZING clock faces in their iPhone app, and would probably have been very popular on Apple Watch if Apple had allowed them. Instead they had to shut down because no one is concerned about having cool "watch" faces on your iPhone. What a waste.More pride watch faceshonestly, the Apple Watch faces are awful. Let’s hope the next is brings some good ones.
Evil and unacceptable, but I wouldn’t categorize the IS as widespread and rampant.

Again, none of this widepsread and rampant. When you start showing data representing those qualities, then I'll buy the claim. I'd particularly like to see the stats concerning beatings, torture and killings. I'm open to changing my mind, but I need the evidence. Here's an example from this side of the planet.
Heck, here's an example of discrimination in the United States.
Closing your eyes to the reality of the world does not make it go away. Neither does moving the goalpost.

The issue isn't that civil service is a right, the issue is that preventing someone based on their sexuality or gender identify is a violation of existing civil rights. And while I personally believe trans people should be able to serve in the military, I don't think anyone can seriously claim service is a civil right. Hell, I was never allowed to serve because I was born with terrible eyesight. There is no constitutional right for anyone to serve in the military.
Precisely this. There was a time when the military kept black people from serving, or segregated them into their own groups, given worse jobs. That was effectively based on political agenda rather than on capability. And was also a bad call.Your inability to serve for medical reasons (did you try and get rejected?) is not the same as not being able to even consider applying based on the whims of someone's political agendas.
I find it kind of sad that this has to be in the 'political news' section![]()
Let it go, buddy. You clearly have an axe to grind, and your argument is in bad faith. Go out and touch some grass.Putting them on everyone’s devices is indeed imposing.
Why aren’t there backdrops/themes for other communities? I can think of many potential communities — Christians, Jews, people with Autism, disabled people, Veterans, etc. Would you be ok if your device had backdrops/themes available for each of those, and more?
The fixation on sexuality — and ONLY sexuality — is objectively strange. Why aren’t other communities represented?
