Hard to believe it would be a series 3 only update. I mean literally no one has a series 3 these days.
yall didn't even read the second sentence:
"The watchOS 8.7.1 update is only available for Apple Watch Series 3 models, and those who have a newer Apple Watch will not see the update."
"those who have a newer Apple Watch will not see the update."
"those who have a newer Apple Watch will not see the update."

For some reason I can't update my series 3, once it tries to verify a pop up comes up saying "Unable to verify update"
Tried restarting my watch and phone and even re paired but nothing seems to work

I started to get unsupported charger issues after 8.7, hopefully it fixes that as it's last hurrah.Does “literally no one” actually mean “nobody that I know” when you say it? Apparently.
They would (and did) release a series3 exclusive update if there was something exclusive to the series 3 that required an update. Not that hard to comprehend. For literally anyone (except you…)
I’m in no rush to apply this to my series 3. I doubt I ever will, because it’s likely just another slow down to make consumers want to upgrade to a newer model.
The biggest bottleneck the Series 4 has is it’s limited memory, which is likely holding back Watch OS. However, the differences between an AWS5 and 7 are small and, unfortunately, the Series 8 is sounding like another letdown, from all the rumors.Hands off the series 4! Still a great watch and a light year away from the S3. It’s essentially the same internals as the current SE, and barely behind the newer models.
Installed it on my series 3 two days ago that was experiencing the restart bug. Didn't fix the issue at all. Unpaired and repaired it as per the instructions of Apple support and now its completely unusable.
Going to bring it to the Apple store for repairs, however its long out of warranty and am not planning on spending $180 to fix an issue that is 100% their fault. Anybody have experience on out-of-warranty software fixes?
Isn't it weird that they keep selling the S3 up to this day, yet they will not offer major updates for it?
Honestly, I don't get it....
I mean mine has no issues whatsoever but one would assume that if they sell a product they will provide updates for it in the near future...
They’ve all been very incremental updates since the S4, which was the first big redesign and the first to go 64bit. S5 was basically just the always on screen, and as you say nothing much has changed since. I’ll take your word for it on the “limited memory” but the S4 still runs the latest Watch OS perfectly with no hint of slowing down. The biggest bottleneck the Series 4 has is it’s limited memory, which is likely holding back Watch OS.
