Apple today released watchOS 9.3, the third major update to the watchOS 9 operating system that first launched in September. watchOS 9.3 comes over a month after watchOS 9.2, an update that added new Workout functionality and Crash Detection optimizations.

watchOS 9.3 can be downloaded for free through the Apple Watch app on the iPhone by opening it up and going to General > Software Update. To install the new software, the Apple Watch needs to have at least 50 percent battery, it needs to be placed on a charger, and it needs to be in range of the ‌‌‌‌iPhone‌‌‌‌.

The update adds new features, improvements, and bug fixes, including the Unity Mosaic watch face that was announced last week in celebration of Black History Month.

Does anyone have a fast way to download updates to the watch? I turned off bluetooth this time and it still feels slow, and when the phone goes to sleep I wonder if that pauses the download. I think the watch is my least favorite device to download updates to because you can't wear it while it's actually downloading. One would think now that we have Ultra that being able to wear the watch as it is downloading would be feasible.

The Watch Update is still going with Bluetooth turned off. It's been about a half hour now.

Watch is finally updated. Took a little over 40 minutes.

Can someone let me know, if you delete messages on your watch that it syncs with your phone and deletes them on the phone as well.
It doesn't. The Apple Watch doesn't sync the same way other devices do. Messages are pushed to the watch and that's it. The watch also only keeps the last 30 days of messages. I've stopped managing messages on my watch because of this, since they'll get deleted automatically anyway.

I've tried to update and it keeps failing. I get the message "Software Update Failed An error occurred downloading the latest version of watchOS on your Apple Watch."

I've restarted the watch and phone so I give up for now. There's nothing from what I can tell that is important with this update. Maybe it will automatically install later

I hope it makes the Action Button on the Ultra more reliable. I have had issues with the action it is supposed to invoke not being invoked. For instance, my first press launches into the running activity and seeks a GPS signal. The second press should start the timer once I am ready (after GPS is acquired). I have had the second function fail, and then I don’t realize my activity is being recorded.

The remedy has been to restart the watch to get the full functionality back, but that is cumbersome. So hopefully this fixes this issue. I guess time will tell.

It does not delete messages from your iPhone or Mac Messages app.

Thank you!!!!!

Someone had mentioned that the beta changed this to sync across all devices.

Thankfully it doesn't.

I also didnt realize the watch only keeps the last 30 days of messages. I guess I dont have to manage them like I thought. Makes sense with the limited storage.

So maybe before pressing anything to start the run, go to the Maps app and press 'location' and the 'arrow icon', just to make sure you're having a good location fix first.

After the update I had a lot of doubles in my face gallery that weren't there before. Never have had an odd issues after updating, first time for everything I guess

Great, I took the morning off from work to update the watch. No issues so far.
