Will iOS 16 work with watchOS 8?

I’m still running a Series 3 which can’t be updated to watchOS 9. So I’m not sure if I should stay on iOS 15 until I get my series 8 next month.
Yes, it’ll be fine upgrading to iOS 16 while the Series 3 stays on watchOS 8.

Looking for this too. Currently on 9.0 (20R361) from the Beta program, deleted the profile a few days ago expecting a new version to come through today but so far nothing.
We’re good for now. Beta profiles deleted.

Apple Watch 6 lost compass functionality completely. Anybody with same or different result?

I’s good to see Compass updates have been included for regular Apple Watches. They were announced during the segment of the show dedicated to Ultra, and was afraid Apple would lock them to that model only.

Trying to update to WatchOS 9 and it says my iPhone needs to have the latest update. It just updated to 15.7 (iPhone 7+) which is the latest update for that phone and it's still saying that. *shrug

I'm very excited for the new sleep tracking. It looks like it is more accurate than Fitbit so I can finally stop wearing both.

Agree. It's the one (and, really, only) thing my wife misses from her Fitbit since he moved to an AW. She'll be quite happy with this.

As for me, I'll probably ditch the Pillow app, given that Apple will now be basically duplicating what that app does.

The metrics for Fitness+ to airplay 2 devices still do not work. Still only works with an apple TV

They changed how you unlock the watch. Anyway to revert back to the old mechanism by turning the digital crown. That was more foulproof.

One day watch updates will be fast and smooth. But alas this years it’s going to take hours and hours again:(.

Awesome that Nike watch faces are now available on regular Apple watches. I like the Nike Digital hybrid which I don't think had a similar non-Nike version.

I've been getting at least 24 hours of battery life on the RC (and now official release), and even close to 36(!) hours on the beta before this on my S7 Apple Watch. I have zero complaints. Everything just seems to work 'better' and the Medications Reminders are very helpful.

Isn't watchOS supposed to be capable of updating itself over WiFi since a few years ago? (My phone is currently hundreds of miles away).

Going to Settings > General > Software Update, gives an "Unable to Check for Update" message. Rebooting the Watch made no difference.
