I am not seeing the Nike faces anywhere in the Face Gallery.
Yeah, I didn't find it in the app either but it's definitely available directly on the watch. Create a new face on the watch and scroll down. "Nike" will be an entire section in the alphabetical list. It won't even show up in the New section.

ETA: Once it's created on the watch, it will show up in the app and you can edit it there.

In case someone has an issue with the install, either restart the watch or turn on airplane mode, then off. I was getting a verifying status then Unable to install error. The above fixed it.

What I can't figure out right now is why my battery is draining even though it's sitting on the charger.

Was at 93% after the OS9 finished installing, it's been sitting on the charger ever since - little lightning bolt reads...it's now 83%

After reboot it's 80%.

Stupid question but how do I power off the AW with watchOS 9? Pressing and holding the side button now does an emergency call now.

Edit: “press and hold side button for SOS CALL” had been activated for some reason, which I’ve disabled so now I can power off. However, if press and hold is enabled, how DO you power off out of interest?

Long press the side button like you did. When the emergency screen comes up tap the ellipsis icon on the upper right corner opposite Cancel. That will bring up the power off option.

Yes, that works similar to how it used to, but watchOS 9 defaulted to “press and hold side button to activate SOS”.

What I’m asking is, if that is enabled, how do you power off?

I accidentally rang 999 (UK) earlier and was mortified as I don’t want to waste their time. Disabling “press and hold” which I have done now, and I can power off like I always have been able to.

I get the feeling a lot of accidental calls will be made with that now defaulted (assuming it defaults on others).

I explained how. When I long pressed like you, I got the emergency screen. Tap on the icon opposite the word Cancel and it will bring up the power off option button.

I can't update my watch until I update my phone to iOS 16? Is this true? :( Both my watch and my phone tells me to update the phone before I can update the watch.

Given how buggy most iOS releases have been, I usually wait for .1 or .2 before I update.
Why would it lie to you about that?

Yes, that's typically how it works. WatchOS updates correspond to the new iOS updates.

ex.
watchOS 7 needs iOS 14 or newer
watchOS 8 needs iOS 15 or newer
watchOS 9 needs iOS 16 or newer

Which needs to just stop. This is not worthy of an OS number change. These are more like minor adjustments that most apps toss in in software updates because they aren't that big of a deal, and some of these new "features" are more like bug fixes.

There is no reason to make people wait a year to make such minor improvements.

Feel much this way about stock apps as well in IOS. It took them a year to update Safari with tab groups and pins????
Just update the bloody app.

Perhaps it is still running a lot of stuffs in the background like organizing everything inside the watch and consuming more battery than the charger can provide. 🤔
It happens if output is larger than input.

Yeah, I'm hoping that's the case. It did eventually get back to 100%. When I took it off the charger though to add, customize a few new faces, whoa...the battery dropped to 89% within 4-5 min. I realize it's a Series 4, battery is not even close to what it used to be, but that's pretty drastic.

So...just hoping it's an indexing thing and it will clear up in a day or 2.

Ok. I believe you, but I’m not willing to try it as it immediately rang 999 with that option enabled. I don’t want to do that again by mistake.

I think I'm too stupid for sleep. I put on the watch, swiped, tapped sleep, went to bed. When I woke up I checked Health and it showed a weird, wildly inaccurate, chart for the 11th - 12th saying that I slept for 9 hours. But I actually went to sleep on the 12th at around 5 PM and woke up at midnight. When I go to all data, there's nothing for that period at all. But I know sleep mode was active because I missed an important phone call from a friend (sleep mode is also do not disturb, it seems) and had to hold down the crown to turn it off.

Am I holding it wrong?

I do not like the hold the crown to turn off ‘water mode’ or the sleep mode wake up. Spinning the crown was quicker and easier with one finger, now you have to hold for like 3-4 seconds.

Just took my first walk with the 7 on 9!!! (no pun intended Trek Fans) I love the new features but the workout wouldn't end. I hit end, pause, closed it and it just kept timing. Restarted the watch and it still came back running but at least then the pause and end buttons worked. Hope that's not a sign of things to come.

Does anyone else have an issue with the medication app on the watch indicating that medications have not been setup in the health app (even though they have been)?

Did most of the status icons disappear with the update?
Usually if I was in a workout or a phone call and returned to the watch face the icon would appear on the top of the screen and tapping it would return to the app.
Since the update it seems to be gone.
Is it just me?

Last night the app on the Watch said to set up on the phone, which I had done last week on the RC. But this morning the medications were there for me to mark as taken. I assume because I'd already taken them yesterday morning, there was nothing for the Watch app to show.

This, 100%.

I couldn't agree with you any more. It's like they just wait to create as much buzz as possible when they could have just updated the apps and people would be happier. Really frustrating.
