Apple plans to release an Apple TV+ Android app as soon as today, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. The app will allow Android smartphone and tablet users to watch Apple TV+ content in a native app rather than having to rely on watching through a web browser.

Apple has long offered an Apple TV app for iOS devices, and it also has dedicated Apple TV apps for various Android-based smart TVs and set-top boxes. The new Apple TV Android app will be installable on Android smartphones, and it is aimed at increasing Apple TV+ subscriber numbers.

The new Apple TV+ for Android app will join other Android apps that Apple has created, such as Apple Music and Apple Music Classical for Android.

Apple TV+ is priced at $9.99 per month, but new Android subscribers will be able to get a free trial.

people really watch tv and movies on their phones?

or are they using phones as ott boxes?

All the time. Shame to admit but that's the only way to not distract me nowadays 😵‍💫 unless I REALLY like something, I always end up on my phone when I watch on TV

I just see some poor new Apple software engineer, all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed for their dream job on their first day at Apple

"Welcome to Apple we're so glad you're here."
"What am I going to be working on? New features? Developing the OS for a secret new product?"
"You'll be writing an Android App"

Finally. Took them long enough. I get ATV+ through T Mobile but i would probably pay for it. This might help expand the subscriber base.

First, Apple Music. Now Apple TV+

In terms of Apple services, soon, iMessage and FaceTime [initiating a call] will be the only reasons to continue using an iPhone...
BlueBubbles takes care of iMessage. So only FaceTime initiation remains.
