How about iMessage app next Tim?
I'd suggest that you not hold your breath.

I could be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure every one of the Apple Android apps exists to enable those additional non-iOS users to tap into one of Apple's "profit center" services. iMessage only exists as an enhancement to the iOS experience... it doesn't create a revenue stream by itself, in the same fashion as AppleTV+ and Apple Music.

Apple TV+ is not an high volume content provider (although nowadays there's really a lot to see) but it's an high quality content provider.

If Apple wants to sell it to everybody (and they do, there's already an Android TV app) they simply have to have an Android app. So, well done.

people really watch tv and movies on their phones?

or are they using phones as ott boxes?
To be fair I prefer not to and I certainly won't watch something like Silo, Severance or Masters of the Air (as we are talking about ATV+) on a phone because those shows have great photography.

But sometimes I'm waiting for something or on a train and I may prefer to watch something like Ted Lasso or Shrinking (also ATV+, btw Apple could use more sitcoms) instead of listening a podcast depending on my mood.

It's nice to have some options and everyone can decide for themselves.

How do we know you weren't gross 25 years ago too?

He looks pretty normal now:

And he's a billionaire that owns the LA Clippers and built a giant stadium.

What have you done lately
In an age we have some billionaires seem like James Bond villains Balmer is kind of missed.

Not a chance, people clung to blackberry till the bitter end purely for BBM, and I routinely see Americans saying iMessage is the only thing keeping them on iPhone. Im sure that Apple is aware the staying power it has for some people.

Any idea if the app will support movie/tv purchases and not just Apple TV+ content? If so, this would arguably make Apple the most "portable" of all the streaming services, which is quite surprising given its historically closed ecosystem.

All the time. Shame to admit but that's the only way to not distract me nowadays 😵‍💫 unless I REALLY like something, I always end up on my phone when I watch on TV
That is a you problem. Make a choice and stick with it. If you don't like it, switch platforms.

How about the entire iCloud suite so I can easily use an Android with my Mac:
-Contacts, Calendars, Photos especially
Throw in Remote and FaceTime while you're at it please

I mean my family pays a lot of money for many TB of storage in our iCloud One plan or whatever it's called and we'd be happy to continue to do so. I just want to use the upcoming OnePlus Open2 without having to worry about workarounds or overly rely on/switch to Google services.

I was actually surprised it wasn’t already out, I just assumed it was. I got a 3 month free trial of Apple TV+ that I couldn’t use because it said my account was ineligible. I gave the trial to my colleague who redeemed it, made an account in the browser, then went to download it and oops…
