Might be a 2020, or a one off case
2. I refuse to acknowledge the SE is a good phone because.. laides and gentlemen, it sucks (at least the 2020 version)

The 2022 is my work phone, so what I do on it is limited to mostly email, teams and calls, but it lasts a full day and then some. My 2020 that it replaced, doing the same work, sucked and died half-way though the day.

If I understand the stolen device protection feature correctly, people with a Touch ID device and poorly defined fingerprints that don’t work with Touch ID will be unable to:
  • “Changing your Apple ID password
  • Updating select Apple ID security settings, including adding or removing a trusted device, trusted phone number, Recovery Key, or Recovery Contact
  • Changing your iPhone passcode
  • Adding or removing Face ID or Touch ID
  • Turning off Find My
  • Turning off Stolen Device Protection”

2022. Are you on the latest version of iOS? For me, it only started happening since the prior 2 releases. Before that I never had any issues.
Weird.. it seems that my mom's reason for devices getting hot with newer updates might be true
But God help her, she's still on 15.4 (and she has an iphone 13 pm)

Yea, the 2020 battery just sucks. If I had bought the 11 instead of the SE, maybe I could have skipped the 13 (which I bought 2x for me and my mom, don't ask me)and 14. Maybe I'll consider the SE (4) again, but tbh I don't need to considering the iPhone 13 is still a great phone

I have only seen one article about Journal updates in 17.3.

Journal app settings: With the new testing version, Apple is adding more options to the Journal app settings, such as enabling media and Apple Music suggestions, cellular data usage, and more.

Nice, I know some people use journal, this might be helpful to them

The 'Stolen Device Protection' feature seems pretty important. I hope all users will be prompted to turn it on, not only those who know to go looking for it in Settings.
Yea too late for me and my 13 Pro Max. :( Will turn it on my 15 Pro Max as soon as I get 17.3 installed.

Wait, how much people have an se/8 or below again, compared to the rest of apples lineup of iphones?

So you upgraded from your 13PM to a 15PM or what? The iPhone 13 series still supports iOS 17
My 13 PM was stolen last week, I have household theft insurance and was able to alter my mobile contract (as I had renewed it last November sans mobile as I planned to keep the 13 PM) and pay the 15 PM outright at a cheaper price from my provider.

Like someone else asked, if the phone owner died would that then mean that phone is completely useless as you would need Face ID? I never use that anyway as it never works properly.

Apple's Find My network can be used to track a lost or stolen iPhone, even if it's been turned off or offline. For this to work, Find My Network will need to be enabled on the iPhone before it's lost. The feature is only available on the iPhone 11 and later models.

Apple's iOS 15 update brings a big improvement to Find My that makes it possible to locate your lost iPhone even when the device has been turned off or the battery has died. This feature works automatically so long as you have the Find My network enabled on your iPhone. That means your iPhone's location will remain visible in Find My on your other devices and to people in your Family Sharing group regardless of whether the phone is powered on.
That’s amazing…except I have a XS.

Considering you have an XS, upgrading your phone to a normal 15 brings you:
Dynamic Island
5G
48mp camera
New 2x zoom
A16 with much faster performance than an a12
U2 ultra wideband chip
Much longer software support
Ceramic shield
USB-C
Better speakers
Brighter display
Thinner bezels
Magsafe
better battery
And the pro would add on top of that:
USB 3
3rd camera with 3 x zoom on pro and 5x on pro max
Even better battery
Titanium
A17 pro
That's what you get for upgrading
