So yeah the long list view is easier when looking for an app than the horizontal view, but is there not a list view button to switch from the default horizontal list? I've yet to update to iOS 6, so I'm not certain.

Not a surprise. Chomp went the way of Lala. What great product will Apple buy next just to give it the axe?

Oh yeah, the horizontal app display blows.

If I see this I am SO glad the Dropbox guys refused the Apple takeover.

Dropbox is still owning iCloud on every single aspect (integration, ease-of-use and functionality), imagine what a waste of an excelent service it would have been if Apple got it: they would have used the tech to make iCloud more quickly than they did now, but iCloud would still have been the closed blob lacking fucntionality it is today.

*Shrug* I like using both. They each hold a distinct and useful purpose for me across all of my Apple devices.

But I know what you are saying, the takeover would mean no dropbox as it is today.

I like the new design better, personally. I think it is much more useful to have an actual screenshot of the app to see without any additional taps. I did not like having to scroll through a big long list of app titles with only a tiny icon to give me an idea of what the app did before I tapped on it. Before I'd have to tap on every result to have any idea of what it was like, which is terribly tedious.

I do think that having a list view of the search results would be good to still have as an option, however.

I pretty much have the same opinion. I prefer seeing the screenshots. I also like the general UI of the App Store. The only real problem is how it's one result per page but it's unavoidable without reverting back to what they had before for the search results. An option between list and screenshot however, as you mentioned, would be a great idea, as long as it's easily accessible (eg. button left of search bar - not in Settings).

I think you mean NO Dropbox, period. Would you still *shrug*?

Argh!!

Yeah, the look and function of this new platform really blows. Why change something that worked really well?! They should have just tweaked the old platform a little bit, maybe making it 3D or something.

To me, iCloud is transparent. It just works. Used Dropbox for a while to sync stuff. After the installation, account creation, initial sync, dealing with moany errors and "upgrade to premium" nags, I'm happy with iCloud doing it all for me.

If anything, it would have been a continuation of the iDisk (which I sorely miss).

dropbox works like a charm across the board.

if they add file modification (office docs) on iOS, I'd dare say it's one step behind of being the real rocknrolla in the cloud storage business

Howso? They bought Chomp and integrated it into their own store design. Don't let that get in the way of your caterwauling though.

Because they're taking functionality away from Android users. While Apple can do this, it doesn't make outrageously much sense if the app was profitable on Android...

But who cares about letting companies make money. We have to take functionality away from the competition and force people to get our own phones, you know?

They can do it, and we can grumble about it...

They must assume people only use search to pull up a specific app. For example, I search for general terms like "twitter" or "movie showtimes" so I can browse a bunch of apps to compare and see if any of them look good.

Even that is broke. Searching for apps by name is broken. Try searching for "Bad Piggies" (number one in paid apps right now) and its the third one listed. Not a fan of the new search.

I do not like the new App store interface at all... It looks like it was made for Android... Big central, shiny icons... Let's make it even more colorful and less usable... Big, shiny, colorful... I know... Let's make it so that it even takes a bit longer to load... The kids will love that....

Haven't had that problem with Dropbox, but each persons experience is unique.

This new software...

Apples App store version of Chomp will help you "take a bite out of time..."

That's right, say it like McGruff would :)

This new interface sucks! not only is it hard for the customer to find what they are looking for but it is also horrible for developers.

Unless you happen to be the first app that shows up on a search sales are way down. Most people dont want to scroll through more than 2-3 apps if yours is past that you better be ready for a huge sales hit.

I wonder how long it will take for apple to admit they are wrong here. Within the dev community sales are down about 20-30% and this is even with a new device hitting the market sales should be going the other way...

Hopefully Apples revenues are also down 20-30% on app sales and they will give out this is not working and change things.

It would be nice to at least have an option of how things are displayed. its possible because if you are still on ios 5 apps are still listed.

I've said it before I'll say it again...

iOS 6 just plain SUCKS!

WHile the security patches are good the UI makes in almost unusable. If Apple doesn't fix it soon I might have 3 iPhone 5's for sale.

The new interface wouldn't be so bad if it was FASTER. If we could scroll through search results as fast as an Album View, for example, it would be much better. But I absolutely can't stand how slow it goes, and having to flip through EACH AND EVERY SINGLE APP.

I too like the new design. It makes more sense to group certain promotions in their own horizontal bar. To the poster who said he/she liked all the items listed vertically, I found that incredibly tedious when you got to the bottom of a long vertical page and then trying to scroll back up to find items you had found interesting.

As for speed? I have not had any of these lag issues people keep speaking of, especially on LTE.

Love the Chomp version and hope Apple keeps it like this.
