I think some people here are taking this to mean the image on the right is the new app store interface :)

Either way the new search is entirely pointless on the iPhone. The swiping of single cards is terrible UNLESS you can drill down with drop downs etc - The iPad has this.

type in maps and you have 15,400 entries!!!

Even that is broke. Searching for apps by name is broken. Try searching for "Bad Piggies" (number one in paid apps right now) and its the third one listed. Not a fan of the new search.

Yeah I noticed that too. The app store wasn't even that bad before. They just needed more filtering and sorting options (imo).

Dropbox is still owning iCloud on every single aspect

I can't find the option in Dropbox that allows me to sync my reminders, contacts, email, calendars and notes with all my other apple devices. Where is that owned feature at?

Honestly there is very little about iOS 6 that is even remotely good. Most of the changes have made it much worse, and I'm die hard Apple fan lol. They simply don't have a good iOS team. They hardly add any features, and what they change just makes it much worse. I hope I'm not the only one who thinks the colored menu bars are not good lol, they are absolutely dreadfully terrible.

The fact that you can't swipe up from the bottom to reveal the multitasking bar makes me think they literally have no one intelligent working on ideas and features. I mean that is literally a no brainer. Swipe down from top for notification center, swipe up from bottom for multitasking. That should have been a minor feature added next to notification center in iOS 5, and now it is iOS 6 and they are still too incompetent to add that?

To add to that I think they should only display 4 apps in the multitasking bar, I'm not sure why you would need more than that displayed by swiping over. I believe when you open multitasking bar, 4 apps should be visible, and you can swipe right for volume/ipod/mute/rotation lock etc. and swipe left for frequently used settings to adjust them quickly, without having to open settings.

Well They are all the open apps aren't they not just the multitasking bar... you do need to shut them down now and again. Skype still saps quite a lot of battery. Can't see them changing that but they could do with a close all option somehow. Closing 30 apps is a bit pointless.

swipe up to bring up multitasking ( poss 2 fingers )
Left for audio etc
Left again for quick settings or they should be a place in notifications.

iOS 6
Siri stuff is nice - but needs integration with other apps. I am sure this will come eventually.
Facebook / twitter - oddly useful
Maps(!) Are actually fine for me in the UK... and the turn by turn is pretty good... BUT I miss streetview.
Panorama works but hardly a real Feature!
Personally I think the best features are the app redesign such as Music... all much nicer.

I miss the old App store. It was much easier to find and browse threw the apps.
But the App store is least of my worries. Improving the Maps will be most important thing to worry about.

The new interface gives me more info. I like that. I prefer that to the old interface that presented less info. How was that hard to follow?
I'm pretty sure my comment speaks for itself. You wrote "apps" when now there is only a single app shown. That is less information displayed on the screen, not more.

I also can't save a Pages document straight to DropBox from the save dialog.

DropBox doesn't keep the state of apps in sync between my iPad, iPhone, and Mac either.

i can't reconcile, for the life of me, why they made the phone longer, but shifted the app store to a horizontally scrolling interface. don't they advertise that in safari the new screen allow you to see even more? wouldn't they want that to be a universal model across the OS?

i also take issue with the new phone dialer UI, and how it matches nothing else in iOS... Not sure who is running QC over there.

I'm pretty sure I said I get more info on the apps I search for, not more apps on the screen. Your comment still makes no sense.

To me, iCloud is transparent. It just works. Used Dropbox for a while to sync stuff. After the installation, account creation, initial sync, dealing with moany errors and "upgrade to premium" nags, I'm happy with iCloud doing it all for me.

If anything, it would have been a continuation of the iDisk (which I sorely miss).

Wow, even Dropbox is difficult for you? Seriously?

Agree that the new AppStore layout is a fail. They should allow the option to switch between the two layouts so both camps can have a choice. Some categories have over 16000+ items! Are you going to swipe your finger anywhere close to that? Nope. So this screws all of the indie developers who haven't gotten their app into the Top 10 slots, because no one will ever go that far past ten swipes.
Yay Apple :apple:

I see both options.

Search by keyword = App by app with details
Browse by category = Vertical list that's scrollable

Makes sense to me. If your searching, you want something specific and it's nice to see more info on the results - one product at a time. If you're browsing by category, you're surfing and having the ability to scroll down with 5 apps visible at the same time works great. Point is, the old view is still there. You just have to drill down by categories instead of typing in a search term to see it.

The new interface wouldn't be so bad if it was FASTER. If we could scroll through search results as fast as an Album View, for example, it would be much better. But I absolutely can't stand how slow it goes, and having to flip through EACH AND EVERY SINGLE APP.

I thought I was using an Android phone/tablet when I was in the iOS 6 App Store. Yuck!

iCloud is fine for syncing and back up. It's very great indeed. But "Documents in the Cloud" is not that good, even confusing - just take a look at the TextEdit app in Mountain Lion.

The OS X team, however, implemented what you said in Mountain Lion - swipe from right border to left = reveal notification center.

That is because you are in the .01% who actually likes the new app store. Of course you don't get it.

The new app store search result format is BAD. Terrible, terrible, usability and design. Bring back list view you total noobs! I can't believe this multi-billion dollar company can make such awful design decisions such as this and the removal of the ability to delete tunes from your device in the music app when you have iCloud Match turned on.

Unbelievable.
Completely unbelievable.

Horrid interface is horrid. :(

I agree... the interface makes sense when you have a handful of results, anything above 10 results becomes a pain in the a** to keep an oversight of and scroll...

Really, scrolling is sooooo horrible in this view, and I dare you get to the first result quickly when you realized that even after having scrolled all the way to result number 124 you haven't found something better than result number 2...
So... Usually you'd just tap the top - the status bar and it'd quickly scroll back to the beginning, right?
Not anymore, suckers!

It's like a car vs. pedestrian comparison.
Surely, as pedestrian you get to see more and everything looks bigger and more beautiful. You can quickly make out the points (apps) of interests, but damn is it slow.

One should be able to switch the view or at least improve the scrolling. Scrolling one app at a time? REALLY? What is this BS?

They must assume people only use search to pull up a specific app. For example, I search for general terms like "twitter" or "movie showtimes" so I can browse a bunch of apps to compare and see if any of them look good.

Agreed. I often use the search term "synth" when I'm trying to find new synthesizers to check out. Of course, I have to do this because the Music category has no sub-categories, so you get a few music creation apps mixed in with 10,000 templated music artist fan apps. But the horizontal scrolling is so slow that now I use search just to get back to the beginning of the search results because scrolling back through results one-by-one takes fraking forever.

But imagine if you could set up custom lists of new releases based on keywords you define. That would actually be useful (assuming you could scroll vertically), unlike this Chomp mess.

Well observed. Change for the sake of change, as far as I can tell.

I'm an app developer. I sympathize with Apple because I know you can never satisfy 100% of a large audience, and I understand the difficulties of making an interface that is heavily reliant on a speedy internet connection look and feel fluid. Even so, at times I am at ends with their design choices, and this is one of those times.

I think the idea behind iOS has always been accessibility. There's a certain point where you can't add visual flair without sacrificing usability and intuitiveness to some degree, and I think Apple is beginning to find themselves in the difficult position of making that choice. iOS wasn't really designed to be very expandable and future proof. It pretty much did everything it wanted to do perfectly from very early on.

Microsoft has the right idea of combining their mobile and full operating systems into one product - their implementation is just bad. I think the answer to Apple's dilemma is the accessible mobile front end that everyone knows and loves, and an iOSX mode that gives you the full power of a mac by simply pugging your phone into a doc that has a keyboard, mouse, and monitor attached.

I'd like to see some of the features of sites like appshopper built in.

-Email/push notifications for updates of apps you choose
-More filtering/sorting options
-App wishlists

etc.

agreed!

not only all that, but where on earth is the "gift this app" option? how the hell do you redesign the app store and leave out functions that were useful and present (and good for business) before? is this still in beta?!? damn this new design sucks, a blind man could see that.

and there is no excuse for ANY of the apple apps to not be updated on day one for the new iPhone 5 display, apple store app I'm looking at you!

wtf apple? get it together, sheesh!

The iPad has that feature.

It sucks now as much as the OSX app store. You only see what Apple wants you to see.........those apps from those companies that pay the highest fee.
