People knew it was called iPhone OS internally, nobody cared because it makes sense considering iOS was literally iPhoneOS before iOS.
The first person who suddenly started saying iOS would be getting renamed to iphoneOS was Jon Prosser because clearly he didn't knew about this and everyone thought he had some weird insider info or something I guess.

This is the thing, Apple knew that the dude clearly didn’t know and they let him run around with it
Pretty hilarious.

It’s going to be interesting to see what comes true and what doesn’t in this next iPhone regarding the rumours.

I just hope they're at least getting announced Tuesday, really don't feel like waiting until October for an announcement 😅

Yes, exactly. Are the new iPhones really coming this Tuesday? 🤔
Confirmed.

I'm not sure it means anything.

The intro video for XS and XR is still up. Does Apple plan to reintroduce them?

Hey, the video you shared is no longer available in Apple’s YouTube channel.

Because of that, the video in your post has disappeared. :D

The new iPhones won’t be out for months. They literally just started production on them this last week.

Production starts have nothing to do with the announcement date though. Apple could announce the new iPhones on Tuesday and state that they're coming in October or even November. At the rate everything is changing due to COVID-19, Apple could easily break their own tradition of announcing the new iPhone 3 days before preorders and 10 days before release.

There are a whole bunch of ads missing, including one for the HomePod. I don't think it means anything other than Apple temporarily hiding less-relevant ads to increase focus for the upcoming event.

In the real world, announcing new products means lowering prices on old ones. That's why well organized companies don't do it unless they have something to sell in the near future.

What is one good reason Apple would voluntarily knock $100-$150 from their existing iPhone lineup 1-2 months in advance?

This isn't about "tradition" - it's about financial common sense.
