Now's the time to buy folks. The 'last ever click wheel iPod' - will undoubtably be worth a buck or two in the future.

They should discontinue the classic and the shuffle,.
Those are the only iPods I would consider buying. They are the only non touchscreen models. This means you can use them without looking at the screen. Perfect when you are exercising. If you have a touchscreen only model you have to look at the screen and then you may as well use the iphone for your music. I suspect the touchscreen models are mainly (not exclusively) used as gifts for kids where the parents don't want them to have a smartphone. Hence the sales decline as smartphones become more prevalent.
I already a shuffle and have been tempted to buy a classic on many occasions because of the capacity but there has always been something else (made by apple) which pushed them down the wish list. My kids all have classics and love them! if they discontinue I will probably take the plunge and make sure I get one before they disappear.

I've recently gotten into audiophile mode lately. I've purchased some of my favorite compact discs and ripped them into AIFF files. I plan to by the Apple iPod Classic for it's 160GB space and it's iconic design. I already have an iPhone so buying an iPod Touch would not be smart for me. I just want an dedicated Portable Music Player with a large capacity that does not let you rub apps, just strictly music. I use to have iTunes Match but when out in public I would get a lost signal. I better purchase the Classic soon.
