And that’s why I said you need to look at each country in particular. This worked for me when I was in Australia. The people I was visiting in Oz are currently in Kansai, using the same model phone I have, and using eSIMs there perfectly fine in NTT DoCoMo.

I used it when I was there. That tells me it does work. Again, you need to do the research for the country you’re going to visit, but to blanketly say that the majority of the countries don’t use it is wrong.

BL.

So far I am 0 of 2 on this trip on esim pre-paid.

1. Japan I knew this was going to be impossible. Confirmed at such.

2. Arrived into Singapore about an hour ago. After 4 Changi recommend store that Carrie's M1. Guess what- no pre-paid esim from M1.

Let's see how my luck will be in Taiwan, Thailand, and Korea on this trip.

So don't ever give recommendation or say things when you haven't been actually traveling.

Just because M1 says it's available. Reality is no.

eSIMs will be pretty awesome once they are widely available. You can store several in your phone and switch between them by toggling switches. No more SIM ejection tools, and dropping a tiny sim on the floor of the airplane just before landing, etc. When I traveled a lot internationally in the past, I had probably a half dozen cards that were hard to keep track of. Now iPhones can store lots of eSIMs and you can have 2 active simultaneously. Once companies around the world issue eSIMs as easily as they do SIMs now, this will all be forgotten and people will be thinking back to "remember when we had those pain in the a$$ cards we had to swap?"

Not too many people are wishing we still had cassette tapes instead of downloadable music.

Yeah- "Once companies around the world issues esim as easily"

In reality is not easy- and often nearly impossible.

Despite what M1 says on their website- you just can't get prepaid ESIM at Changi airport as soon as you land or exit customs.

That IS unfortunate. So they lost your business right? Companies are in the business to make money. Soon they will adapt. It's just going to take time unfortunately.

Because most Americans including the annoying Apple fan boys travel exclusively in their fantasy on google maps.

Soon they will adapt because one DotCom2 says so. No. It is a matter of reality. Sooner old, tired Tim will bring back a sim slot to this current imbecile US variant of what it has become a useless paper weight.

Wanna place a bet that the sim slot has gone the way of the headphone jack?

For how long?

Why make it so difficult? I went to M1 store in bugis today.

Guess what no pre-paid esim readily available either. Not a popular item.

But guess what- I have my trusted Taiwan version of 14 pro max with physical SIM card. Happy paying $40 SGD for one month 150GB 5G speed

Sure. Send it to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. a good friend will hold on to your $$$ for me. Sim slot, not coming back. (US models only)
You will lose.

Unless China change its policy on esim. You will always have physical sim iPhone.

It’s not going away like you said. Just need to buy different version.

Just bought my iPhone from canada with a sim slot. Otherwise no upgrade. Considered the 13 pro max, but couldn’t find in stock.

Too bad you’re 0 out of 2. But that’s on you, not me.

As for not traveling, you’re wrong. And this was just the beginning of my travels. But like I said, I digress; I know nothing about traveling because someone looking for prepaid sim must know all that there is to know.

You know people can read the stamp date right.

1995/1999- hmmm

How about something more current like less than 24 hours

This is what M1 corporate store looks like at 3pm on Monday- which is off peak hour.

So tell me- is it seamless? Pain free? Do it at your home?

And your goal post shifts. But I also didn't expect that reading comprehension would be the problem.

I said that this was THE BEGINNING of my travels. Your claim was that I never traveled at all. But Again, I digress; you are the only one who travels, who must be the only authority on traveling overseas. As if I need to prove that I travel to justify my posts: to you, anyone else, or otherwise. Perhaps one should look at doing that themselves to prove likewise.

But again, I digress; You are the only authority.

You want to see a truly frequent traveler passport looks like?

Even with covid I had a 1.5 year of no travel. I am down to last 2 pages. A typical passport with 2 insertion last about 3 years for me. This time is took 4.5 years.

You really really have zero clue on travel. Nor understand ease of physical SIM card for frequent traveler.

BTW I already used up 4G of data in 2 days.

Yay. You travel as well! Congratulations! But your exact words:

So don't ever give recommendation or say things when you haven't been actually traveling.

You tried calling me out on it and were proven wrong. Now you are trying to save face by showing yours. That's fine and dandy for you traveling; but one should never try to tell anyone what they can or can't do without knowing their background of the person, otherwise they end up looking highly embarrassed to say the least, and an absolute fool at the worst.

Again, I'll leave the last word to you, because obviously one has to go through a ton of lengths to prove themselves to be right and the absolute authority on anything traveling.

You are the one who is wrong. You are the one who didn’t even understand the issue to begin with.

1. No one asked you to show passport with 1999 entry info.

2. No one asked you about 3rd party esim.

3. You are the one who keep on stating apple own mis-information as bible and gospel.

Despite apple own website- M1 pre-paid esim simply is much more difficult to get and not seamless or easy.

Next time don’t state things you have absolutely no idea or clue about.

That’s amusing. A vintage passport. I have a full drawer of them. Multiplied by 3. Few places even stamp anything today unless you go to a banana republic. And there yes, you may get a stupid stamp and a monkey bite, but no e-sim. The paradox of trying to be “modern” and yet make false claims while eating a dry chicken in Tripoli in a roach-infested hotel. The exotic fantasy land of aging Tim fooling the unsuspecting hipsters. Looks like you bite your nails…
