FIRE THE ACCOUNTANT

Get back to focusing on the core business, which is falling apart.

Macs are only 6% of computer sold, mobile sales have fallen off a cliff, bluetooth speakers didn't work out, digital assistant is objectively bad, watch sales have plateaued, iTunes discontinued because it sucks, and your laptop keyboards quit working after awhile.

But you are putting money into podcasts, youtube video series, inventing new colours of watch band, and buying rap star headphone companies whose products are overpriced and make bad sound.

Like COME ON. Priorities!

It's like you woke up and decided, "today I'm going to make random stuff up and post it on MacRumors." There is literally not one thing that is remotely close to reality, aside from your username and the time of your post.

That's what they said at Blackberry.

Calm down; it can't be that bad.

This is Apple's Blackberry moment.

Ok you've had your fun. Give your parents back their computer.

Get back to farming dirt.

cuz nobody at  headquarters has the courage to kill it. It would be an admission of failure
If Carpool Karaoke was a failure, CBS would have cancelled its source show, THE LATE LATE SHOW WITH JAMES CORDEN or at a minimum, Corden would have stopped doing new Carpool Karaoke skits for the show.
In fact, it is one of the best things from that show - the one he did with Paul McCartney is fantastic.

Every single item there comes from a Macrumors article.

All absolutely true, unless you think that Macrumors (and the broader technology press?) are using made-up statistics.

You have no idea what you're talking about if you think Apple's empire is remotely comparable to RIM in their prime days.
Not their "empire", their arc.

If you don't like the Blackberry comparison, go ahead and use any other technology company that established dominance through genius, foresight, and risk-taking, then got fat and lazy and tried to just milk the old ideas forever.

How about IBM, or Microsoft in the 2000's.

Microsoft? The company that has had over 90% PC market share for decades? Just because Ballmer didn't have a clue didn't make their power any less influential.

Apple is the same. It's a empire, and it's not RIM. Name a company that has surpassed Apple in tablets or smartwatches.

Sony was an empire. They had the walkman. They changed the world.

Then they got fat and complacent and frittered their advantage away.

Now they are a shell of their former selves; a sad parody of their original greatness.

At no time during that progression did they have poor sales.

The problem wasn't what they were doing; it was what they were not doing.

That's Apple today.

Can't decide which is worse. A bunch of celebrities cringing their way through nostalgic tracks. Or James "deep down I know I'm not funny in the slightest but oh so desperate to be liked" Corden.

Not my thing (ugh) and only marginally above the utter dross that are reality tv shows, but each to their own I guess.

So the PlayStation is their iPhone?

Why is it cringe if it's working? Carpool Karaoke is very successful. Apple can do many different things as they grow.

Again, just because you don't like a hardware/software decision, doesn't mean it's directly the result of another effort you don't like or that better "focus" would fix it.

Because they’re doing many different things but now doing them all half-assed and poorly. Including designing devices.

This is so cringe... as much of Apple's entertainment industry efforts. Is it that hard to focus on great tech? (software, hardware, supporting services - why is TV a supporting service is anyone's guess) This is what happens when investors have so much power and want their hands and say in the billions that Apple has. It's actually really sad and concerning.

Apple getting into music in the first place is one of the reasons they regained their mindshare and rose to bigger heights than ever.

"Software, hardware, supporting services" got much bigger budgets as a result.

What measure are you using? Sales data has been strong to record strong. Loyalty is strong. Wearables, services, and even iPad are growing. Mac is stable. Record revenues in the US, Canada, Vietnam, Korea, Western Europe, and others.

The only slight negative lately has been China, which has been negative for many companies. iPhone growth has stopped, but Apple is pivoting to services and wearables which are growing like crazy.

The user base is growing every quarter and recently hit a record of over 1.4B devices. People might not be upgrading iPhone as often, but they certainly aren't switching to Android.

I know people like you don't like what they are doing, but you certainly don't speak for everyone.

Just because inflated upgrade numbers exist or sales numbers exist doesn’t mean it is good design.

Yeah, thanks for that. He's generally disliked over here for being an unfunny, grinning buffoon. Anyway, you've given us plenty of crap over the years, so it only seems fair.
One Madonna and you all lose your minds and send your worst over.

Do you ever remember the feel of the bark on a "Paper Tree", then felt it 30 years later, and you remember! The smell of a certain flower or flowers on a vine growing where you grew up, then you smell it again - and you remember!

It's the same as hearing a
song you loved decades ago and it reminds you of those you knew at that time, maybe that someone, or maybe just arriving home, having a hot chocolate and listening to Carol Carpenter sing "When I was Young I'd Listen to The Radio, waiting for my favourite songs, when they played I'd sing along.... it made me SMILE!

Sure Apple will bring out new iMac Pros (my Current) and new Mac Pros etc etc, but Apple has always been a Human Company, making tech more human for users.. so now we have Apple making shows for entertainment, and Im sure many of those will also touch a nerve in our humanity, as any show / entertainment / movie or song needs to, to be successful! So maybe wait for the next updates to the iMac Pro, the Mac Pro, the MacBook, iPad etc, but int he meantime, remember what made you smile or have other emotions as you grew up. If we as a culture need entertainment , let it touch us and make us remember the dreams we once had, where we have gone to since then and where we are now!

So Apple is now also producing TV shows and Movies etc... so what.. enjoy their tech or their entertainment or both. They don't have to be exclusive! Just a thought. R

Guys, I know this is a really newbie type question, but is there anyway to watch Apple TV shows from a Mac? Or are they only available on AppleTV?

Thanks,

Exactly. Completely agree. But notice Sony is in no danger of going out of business. And they even still make some products that inspire, like their cameras, and possibly still some TVs, and some good movies now and then. So there's the MECHANISM that is the Apple Corporation, and there's the joy that the customers feel, and those two aren't necessarily linked. After all, look how happy Apple customers were a decade ago when Apple was not so successful. The main danger is we transition all the way to full Microsoft-like customers, where we absolutely hate the products, but still mostly have to use them anyway because there's no real alternative.

I honestly forget that Apple bought this. This and it is actually hard to find so you can watch it. Last time I tried I had to use Apple Music?

I am sure in 5 years when Apple rolls out there video streaming service they will move this over....maybe.
