I enjoyed the first two seasons, but they try to create too much drama by having the characters make way too many stupid unrealistic mistakes. Maybe not quite as bad as Netflix's Away though. In that show in reality they really would have not drilled through the ship. They would have limited how far the drill can go in. It was so unbelievably not believable. Get it together Hollywood. Your audience isn't that dumb. I hope...

Also way too much drinking in this show. Nobody drinks that much. I mean, well, they shouldn't. It's giving a bad message to the audience.
You enjoyed the second season? WHAT!?!? It isn't even out yet. Where are you getting those episodes? I find this all very hard to believe. I hope you just misspoke, but I'm having a hard time with my credibility that you watched this show at all. The show goes away from drama/soap once you get past the halfway point of the first episode and becomes straight drama thriller with a sprinkling of family drama.

I don't feel as though this show would be very plausible even in the 90s it was nearly impossible to get a flight position as a female in the 80s you could not fly armed before that getting jet engine experience outside of the commercial sector would be highly unlikely. Not only that but I am sure there would be a lot of issues at the time with a minority going to space as well. I tried for an 11F position a decade ago and ended up in cyber after not being selected I know I outperformed some of my male colleagues that got it and I am still salty over it if you couldn't tell lol.
There really was a female team, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercury_13.

The show started with one single change in history and it created an entirely new timeline where women were pushed into space much sooner than in reality. All because of America's wish to beat Russia. Same reason the moon base happened so much sooner than present day reality. I think the show executes its premise perfectly and very believably.

Yes! After the first couple of slow episodes establishing the alternate history, the rest of the first season absolutely hooked me. Entirely
Up the standard of Ron Moore’s DS9 & BSG work, nice to see Nareen Shankar get an episode too.

This, The Morning Show, Defending Jacob, Ted Lasso, Amazing Stories and Central Park have all been terrific. Only See proved to be a disappointment (in a world where everyone is blind, who do they have flaming torches up everywhere? Would these not be serious fire hazards?!). Happy to pay for ATV+ as part of One Premium for the
Moment.

Doesn't "The Right Stuff" more or less follow actual history (sort of along the lines of "From the Earth to the Moon" or some other similar shows) rather than the fictional alternate history of "For All Mankind"?

Not at all. It starts with some allusions to actual history, then goes off wildly. The First Lady Astronauts Trainees was a real program, for example, but it was run by Jackie Cochrane, not Jerry Cobb, and Gordon Cooper’s wife definitely was *not* one of the astronaut candidates. That was an idea the writers apparently stole from the astronaut couple in “For All Mankind”. They also swiped the scene where an astronaut’s kid gets hit by a car while riding a bike — that never happened, to the best of my knowledge. They also added a completely fictional fist fight between Gus Grissom and Gordo Cooper, and the embarrassing seen with Alan Shepherd and John Glenn acting like grade-schoolers arguing which of them is more popular, and — well, I could go on.

The movie took quite a few liberties with the book and actual history, but the series took almost nothing from the movie or the book except the name. Which just forces me to shake my head because there was so *much* great stuff they could have mined. Instead, they took an inspiring story, abandoned everything that was great about it, and substituted a story that was bland and vanilla. One reviewer called it “The Adequate Stuff”, which is perhaps generous.

The series - I liked them, aside from one glaring issue - they squeezed every damn political correctness issue there is, into For All Mankind, at times it seemed that its not about race to space, but its about human rights issues, pretty weird in this regard given that Apple is doing this to every movie and tv show that they produce and release, like they cant release anything without trying to appease to virtually everyone out there who might feel butt hurt if their agenda is not included/reflected upon in the show.
Just do the damn art, not virtue signalling pc bs please.

Not really. There were a lot of random changes that had nothing to do with that “one single change in history”. Like Von Braun being director at JSC instead of MSFC, even before the “one single change”.

And other stuff that just made no sense. For example, I don’t care who you are, you do *not* keep nuclear bomb secrets in a box at home or share them with your friend, even if he has a Top Secret clearance, or pass them on to your daughter. There is no version of history in which that makes sense.

I enjoyed the alternate reality concept. I think it would be a boring show if our space reality was this TV show and that reality had an Apple TV show of what if the U.S. landed on the moon first.

True there were other changes, but none of them were instrumental to creating a logical new timeline. WVB as director made a slight difference, but made for a very compelling interplay with other characters and highlighted a morally gray person who historically played a big part in NASA.

But, the one big massive change of having USSR land on moon first, created an entirely new timeline, where each massive event flowed into the next and made logical sense in how things spiraled out of control and different from our own timeline. I thought it was brilliant and very well thought out. Kudos to Ronald D. Moore.

They evidently didn't appease everyone out there who might feel butt hurt if their agenda is not included/reflected upon in the show.

Show is perfect for me. Not boring at all, because for me the space race is intriguing. The politics, the planning, the risks, and the collective effort of entire nations. It is all captivating.

Yeah the show will be a snoozefest if you are looking for laser swords, shields set to maximum, sexy alien slave girls, or a lone hero being the only person who can save the universe.

Well I must say sometimes the constant preaching does get a little too forced and tiresome.

anyway, season three: the Lunar War of Independence!

TBH that would be good, especially if it has a Queen soundtrack.

this is great news. While all Apple shows are of high visual and production quality, this is the only one that
would make me renew my subscription.
Although an invisible hand, that ensures political correctness, is clearly perceivable (like in all of
Apples productions), it isn't that bothersome in the end.

YESSSSSSS!!!! YESSSS!!!! I FRIGGIN LOVED THIS SHOW!!!! 5 Seasons!! Please lay it on me, Ronald D. Moore. The end of S1, especially the tension with the cosmonaut hearkened back to Breaking Bad level tension. Very exciting news. Yessir. :D

So so boring, ridiculous and boring.

Great news, the home stretch of S1 was incredible! Super hooked for S2...!
Didn't know about Moonage daydream by David Bowie, love the song!

Wait. Just hang onto yourself here! There are people that don't know about Moonage Daydream? It ain't easy to believe that. Give it five years and maybe it'll sink in.

On OMR Vinyl, it's almost good enough to be someone's soul love.
