The Apple TV shows I’ve watched have this weird quality about them that just... turns me off? I have a really hard time explaining it. “Progressive family-esque TV”?
Family-esque? OK but I’ve also heard complaints that there’s too much adult content... language, sex, violence etc.

Though it’s not a surprise because Apple isn’t in a place that it can cancel anything because it doesn’t have much, I have yet to watch something on ATV+ that I didn’t love. Morning Show, Trying, Ted Lasso, Mythic Quest, Home, Little America, all stellar shows.
I was also pleasantly surprised - The Morning Show was amazing… Looking forward to this one as well!

I gave it a try but the pandering girl power opening scene was so childish I turned it off.

You misinterpreted that scene. Finished 2 epidoses and you’ll understand what i mean.

How else do you think you make a family?

You completely misunderstood what you saw.

I won’t deny there’s adult content but it’s very tame, IMO. I don’t particularly care or need to see those things but it’s just off-putting. Like family friendly adult content. Idk.

I thought the promos from years ago were so-so, but I found the first 3 episodes to be surprisingly entertaining, as well as being refreshingly good-natured. Glad Apple has found a decent comedy. Hope they work hard to build up this part of their offerings.

I thought so too, largely based on my impression of Jason Sudeikis and cringe fest trailer. But the show is really good. Of course, all shows are subjective and you may not like it still. But I was really surprised by just how much I enjoyed it and most importantly, its feel-good vibe made me very happy.

Glad to hear that, thought the TV trailer looked grating to someone from the UK. Wasn't going to check it out but after yours and Boyd Hilton's positive comments on it will definitely give it a chance.

After reading the article I started watching it last night. It's so much better than I initially thought it would be. For some reason I'm just not giving AppleTV shows a chance. There seems to be some good ones in a whole pile of ones I'm not interested in

The only thing I've noticed is no hard nudity. There are nude shots of behinds, but no full frontal. Even in Ted Lasso, the pinup in the player's locker has her chest somewhat covered, even before Ted duct tapes over it.

For me, this policy by Apple is a MASSIVE breath of fresh air. I enjoy the feeling of knowing that my family won't be exposed to nudity - that's a big no-no in my house. Violence, gore, and language are accepted in my family, not nudity. I like knowing that whatever I share with my family on TV+ will pass this threshold and the kids can safely watch even the more mature shows without being subjected to HBO mental pollution.

So much wrong in one sentence.
I'm sorry your sensitivities are different than my own. That doesn't make me wrong and you right.

Btw, my kids aren't young and we don't swear in our house. I meant that movies/TV shows with violence, gore, or language aren't problematic for them. As Americans, we are surrounded by so much of it on the street and in the news that we aren't bothered by it when we see it in our programming. Thankfully, America hasn't descended into depraved public nudity (yet), and I pray it never gets there.

Turn on the TV and watch the Portland/Chicago riots and violence. I mostly meant the language on the street.

Public nudity hurts me and my children. We are religious and we don't need them (or myself) seeing that crap.

Ok. FWIW, I’ve seen naked people. It doesn’t hurt. You may want to see a doctor about that.

I'm sorry. We are religious and it is painful when other people don't respect our sensitivities and flash things in our faces that we have trained our children to avert their eyes from. The fact that you can't recognize that is troubling and shows a lack of regard for others.

No need to be insulting.

No need to be insulting. If you think “religion” means “violence and gore, which represent others being in terrible pain = cool And Nudity = ouch, my burning eyes” that’s your choice. But insulting me for not agreeing with you doesn’t really seem very religious.
Sorry, not an insult. Just calling it like I see it.

“Calling it like i see it” doesn’t mean it’s not an insult. I‘m glad that they continue to make tv shows with lots of nudity, because people who can’t cope with that deserve to feel uncomfortable about it.

Nah, we just rely on the video editing services like VidAngel which make those shows Kosher for us to watch. Or, we don't waste our time with that garbage. There are thankfully hundreds of thousands of clean and acceptable shows out there for us to enjoy.

And Apple TV+ keeps putting out grade A entertainment which my family enjoys. Massive kudos to Apple.

Here’s a novel thought for you, have you ever considered there’s maybe, just maybe a link between the two?
