In considering this "price increase" one might realize that Apple products have very high resale value, especially new, in box.

Geez, are there many people in Russia that could even afford to buy an entry level iPhone costing over $991?

I don't even think people here in the United States would bother at that price.

In all fairness with Putin blocking so many online services including iCloud services. (sounds like Korea lol) I can't see the point in a Russian owning an iPhone except for the status symbol (power wealth factor).

MisakixMikasa does have a point.. it only costs about $247 to make an iPhone. their markup is crazy

And how do you get the list of components in the first place? Research and development right? How about software? Can YOU write the whole iOS yourself? Can you assemble them all together?

Last time I checked, those $247 are estimated component costs, you still need to add R&D costs, marketing, supply chain deals and many more things.

Ignorant people are what they are. Ignorant. They only take into account components used on the product to estimate it's value. The other costs are always ignored.

Which is exactly why I'm sure none of those people have ever been in a position to run a business- suddenly this evil "profit" thing becomes a big deal when it benefits you.

I wasn't even aware of the pending iCloud block. Sounds like the state of Russia wants to have the full physical access to the data stored in iCloud. Interesting...

You know what tims answer to that will be lol

that cost doesn't include R&D or the software development of iPhone. When you factor in these two things alone, the cost of the device probably doubled or tripled.

Does it cost $991? The rouble dropped. Russians pay in roubles. So the dollar price dropped accordingly, and has been restored to its original price now. Unfortunately that means the price in roubles is higher.

Best reply to this that I have seen so far: "If an iPhone costs only $247 to make, why don't you start making iPhones for $247"?
