I actually just had my 2006 2.16 macbook pro replaced after two screen replacements, enclosure replacement, and an i/o replacement. They were going to have to next replace the logic board and just decided to give me a new one. This was all in the period of about two months and I had been working with the same people at my local apple store each time I had an issue.

From my recent experience, they will give you a new equivalent model. My old one was the high end model at the time with BTO options (bigger hard drive, extra RAM), I got the current high end model with an upgraded 3.06 processor and 7200 RPM hard drive for free.

They will certainly give you a replacement, but it will take awhile and several legitimate failures of your current machine.

glad to hear,

you got what you should have, you did shell out all that money the first time and got a subpar experience.

its only right you got the 3.06

so yes, i did call back and got another guy who was willing to help me. he said that he is the same level as the guy who i was talking to before which leads me to believe that the other guy want in fact a "supervisor". in any case he said that the first guy did try to call me back yesterday but was unable to reach me which i dont entirely believe since i left my cell phone number and i have it on me 24/7. so this new guy informaed me that they can give me a replacement but there is a good chance that it will be the white model! this blows because the white model also has a slew of issues including cracking, discoloration, the fact that its ugly, etc. im keeping my fingers crossed but im just waiting for the call back now.

PS - this is the same thing i posted in my thread

Don't settle for the white model. You paid $1500, they can't give you a $999 model as replacement for a "sour" blackbook.

You should be getting 2.53 13" MBP (assuming it was $1500 pre-taxes).

I got tired pushing for a replacement. I had had the logic board, display and top case replaced but they still just wanted to repair it. Sometimes you'll get off easy and sometimes the laptop will need to have exploded before they even consider it

Very true, my MacBook Air had to nearly catch on fire for them to offer me a replacement. Before that I had sent it in multiple times and major parts were replaced.

they said i can get the 2.26ghz mackbook pro for $200 which i think is bull but i think thats my only option at this point...

ok this will be my last update, with great news... after making a few comments (about purchasing the premium model macbook and blah blah blah) they decided to give me the 13" MBP! yay!! im glad that apple still does come through for their customers, unlike other companies... but in any case i should be expecting a call tomorrow to set everything up hopefully i wont have any issues with this one!

so i guess thats 2 successful replacement stories for today :D

I<3:apple:

i recantly had my mackbook pro replaced. i had the old new unibody before wwcd and the upgrades came out bumping it to 500gbs and a 2.8 processor. i first started off with a bowed top housing for the lcd. happens some times with the unibodys. so i took it in 2 months after i bought it because i was busy with school. they tell me at firsrt i must of bowed it. after going back and forth for a bit with the genuis i asked to talk to a manager. manager said no problem will repair it. *always ask to talk to a manager* so i leave it with them for 3 days.
come back to pick it up from the store they replaced the top case and whatnot check for dead pixels and i leave. i get home try and get on the internet and they forgot to reinstall my airport card. so i call them back. they set me up an appointment to come in 2 days from now.
i get go there and talk to a different genuis and let him know whats the problem and that i am here to get my airport card installed that you guys forgot to put back in. so he goes in the back with my laptop comes back out 10 minutes later. says we cant find your airport card and we have to order a new one.
he says you can leave your laptop with us and we can fix all the glitches you have or we can just call you when the part is ready and you can bring in your mbp later. i ponder for a sec and ask how about you just replace it? genuise says brb. comes back out 20 minutes later telling me they will replace my laptop with a brand new one, but the thing is the models have been updated. so i will be getting a bump also at the same time. i was like yay! fresh knew start on the updated mbp unibody! i def loved the bigger storage because i download alot of movies in HD to watch on this sexy 1920x1200 glossy screen. that is my experience with replacing my laptop. i only have my original mbp for 2 months before it was swapped out also.
