Maybe. I'd think at least not unless he got all he was asking for.Not stating as fact, but it seems like Job's ego is too big to back down to Verizon.

I for one am glad to hear the news, though I'm kicking myself for upgrading to iPhone 4 and signing a new contract with AT&T.
I'm so tired of their lack of coverage. My phone doesn't work at my house and it drops calls all over the Bay Area (where I live). I'm on vacation now - of course it doesn't work here either. I'm now completely used to standing next to someone talking on their phone when mine won't even get a signal.
Unfortunately, I'm one of those suckers on a family plan so I won't be jumping ship until 2012. Sucks for me.
But don't forget CDMA iPhone4 can also be used in China!
S. Korea and Japan use CDMA for 2G, but are migrating to UMTS for 3G. Singapore? Which dimension are you from? Singtel, M1, and Starhub are GSM/UMTS carriers.Other countries use CDMA as their primary means of communication. South Korea, Japan, and Singapore all come to mind.
Actually no. Chinese's CDMA system requires a R/UIM card, and American phones don't have that. They have ESN IDs. So, even though the radio bands might work, there are protocol differences.

I am definitely looking forward to a Verizon iPhone because;
1. AT&T sucks.
2. AT&T sucks.
3. AT&T sucks.
4. AT&T sucks.

Yes, it's the subject that's been beaten to death: a Verizon iPhone. The ongoing rumors have been stoked in recent weeks by a claim from Bloomberg that the device will launch in January, with this week's announcement that Verizon CEO Ivan Seidenberg will offer the keynote address at CES 2011 sparking speculation that an iPhone introduction could occur there.
TechCrunch weighs in today with new claims that Apple has placed a large order for Qualcomm CDMA chips to be deployed in an iPhone production run scheduled for December. The claims come from a source reportedly familiar with the supply chain logistics for the CDMA-based chips that would be required for a Verizon iPhone.As the report notes, the evidence does not guarantee a Verizon iPhone launch in January, "but all of the signals point that way", adding another claim to the growing chorus of reports suggesting that a launch is coming early next year.
AT&T has already moved to downplay the risk to its bottom line posed by the loss of its exclusivity for the iPhone in the U.S., noting in its latest quarterly filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission that it expects no "material negative impact" from the expiration of its exclusive handset distribution agreements.AT&T also reiterated its position that AT&T customers will not defect to rival carriers in large numbers once the iPhone goes non-exclusive, claiming that 80% of customers are on family or business plans that make it difficult for them to switch.

Those are not the only carriers in those countries. In Japan, NTT docomo and Softbank are UMTS, alongside CDMA. China Unicom is UMTS.KDDI in Japan and China Telecom in China both already have 3G via EVDO Rev A which is a 3.5G technology according to the ITU. They're currently upgrading to EVDO Rev B, a 3.75G technology before their eventual migration to LTE I imagine. I haven't read anything about either deploying UMTS.

Clearly you didn't see my post about China Telecom. But what's a hundred million Chinese, right?![]()
Yeah, and probably 1% of the chinese population could actually afford an
iPhone considering the minimum wage is approx $140 USD per month ...
