I too just got a pebble watch because I figured it would be at least 6 months until the "iWatch" would ship, assuming there is one.
I really love it. I now glance at me wrist every few minutes, even though I know I haven't got an alert because it hasn't vibrated, instead of taking my 5s out to check the time.
I imagine he "iWatch" would be a liquid metal bangle with a curved display. It's been how many years since apple bought them and all the are making is the SIM card tray, so I believe apple will finally make use of their investment.

Not so smart Watch

Nice concepts except the whole back half being solid does not work for me-too much like a woman's bracelet. It needs a regular strap like any watch.
Add a belt buckle device for extra battery swap and functions if needed. Also it would be super great if the iphone did NOT have to be in your pocket to make it work. Who wants two things to keep track of. A detachable earpiece would be nice. How about a slick over ear device like the hearing aid devices? Retractable cord if necessary. A whole belt or line of shoes/sneakers with built in bluetooth that add functions would be cool. Walking would run the piezo rechargers on both watch and shoes.

I get that fashion is a huge part to wearables being successful but I hope Apple is starting with the functionality they want this device to have and then focusing on what form will be most appropriate. Making something look like a traditional watch isn't really thinking outside the box, IMO.

Apple doesn't think inside boxes, which is why its ridiculous to predict that their next product will be a "watch" by name or concept. The "rumors community" is far off the mark on this one.

I'd have to agree, but I thought the same thing before the iPad was launched so what do I know. :D

The rumors about the iPad before it was launched weren't close to what Apple was actually developing. For sure it was going to run OSX and cost a least $1,500.00. This site was also convinced that it would be given the horrible name "iSlate." A couple of factoids to keep in mind as we consider Apple's next move.

I do think Apple is about to revolutionise the way we think about watches and thrill us with experiences we never thought possible. This is very exciting, and I'm sure Samsung is excited to learn what new features their next smartwatch will include too. :)

To be honest I still wasn't that impressed when the iPad was actually released. It took at least a year until my daughter bought one and I spent enough time using one to appreciate what a decent job they had done. :)

to target 65M is clear how it will be, i think the price of the iPhone 6 will grow a little and the iwatch will sell along with the iphone 6 in the same packet

But we don't want the iWatch. UGH. I think this is one of the most ridiculous things ever! Why don't they work on restoring the horrible iOS 7 icons first.

There's always one. At least it took until the fourth page this time.

You don't want to keep your phone in your pocket cause it's a burden to keep track of but you are willing to have an earpiece, a belt, and special shoes? Wouldn't you still need to have a phone with you anyway?

The more I think about an "iWatch" device the more I think Apple is not going to make anything like the Android Wear watches or Galaxy Gear. I don't see why Apple would want to make a watch with a tiny touch screen or how they would make it easy and delightful to use for every user. Personally, I wouldn't want my wrist going off with notifications for apps all the time. That sounds like an Android feature, and something most people would find annoying after awhile. It's more of a "Wow look at what this thing can do when its connected to this thing in my pocket!" not a "Wow that is amazing, and I would love to use that everyday."

The more we hear about iOS 8 and Healthbook I personally think Apple is either A) Not even going to make the hardware, but use Healthbook as a tie in for the myriad health products already on the market that work with iOS devices. Or B) Make the "iWatch" but it will just be a simple, sleek wristband that measures health related things such as steps taken, sleeping patterns, miles walked, etc. I don't see it measuring anything crazy like blood and what not. As long as it works perfectly with the iPhone and its unobtrusive to the point where you can sleep with it on, it will be bought by millions of people.

Anything Other than a very Low profile band, will be a failure.
People don't want a watch!

Hmm... Skin it. Provide a skin that shows normally and no extra info. I don't want my alerts showing up where other people can read them off my wrist. Privacy.

This will be the new iPod Nano. It will not be marketed as a "watch".

The iPod line has been in need of a revitalizing.

This will do it, as it will be used mostly as supplement to athletic activities (like an iPod nano), instead of jewelry (like a watch).

Remember, watches are jewelry. They are not useful devices.

Back in the 70's when digital watches came out, there was an interview with one of the traditional watchmakers. When asked about the competition from the upcoming digital watches, the traditional watchmaker replied "We aren't in the watch business, we are in the jewelry business."

That is all you need to know about what this new Apple device means.

This sucks. We're going to be forced to hear iWatch rumors until an iWatch actually comes out.

I want my money back MacRumors!

Oh wait. :p

I think I broke Macrumors article code.

You know I might be interested in one of these iBangles IF I can select the bangle material - whalebone, old growth redwood, or ...

I'm curious what kind of feature this device will have for that the mass consumer will be willing to pay for.

…..I cannot imagine having one more thing buzzing and beeping in my life. I like my watch to do one simple thing, tell me the time. It will be nice to see if Apple can sway me.

You may be disappointed, if that's what you expect. According to most rumors, telling the time might only be a mere standby screen. Also 'iWatch' might be a misnomer. Some possibilities:

iStrip / iStrap
iRing - already used
iHoop - already used
iLink - already used by Sony
iDial - already used
iBuddy - already used
iBand - already used
iChum
iAlly
iMate - already used
iPet - already in use by several entities
and my favorite: iPal

Edit: iPal is already used (by Tivoli) apparently, and so are most of the names on that little list, but that by itself doesn't necessarily preclude them from being used of course. Back to iWatch? lol

That sounds like it's going to be bundled with new iPhones. No way will sell that many by end of year alone...

That's an interesting thought that makes a lot of sense. Coupled with a larger screen-sized iPhone, a bundled wrist device named 'iPal' could be a powerful, if not persuasive reason for many to:

1-buy an iPhone,
2-upgrade sooner, rather than later, or
3-even come back from Windows or Android in the case of those who left only for screen size.

And since it's a device you'll presumably always have with you, and it is rumored to complement the iPhone, I think iPal would be a great name.
