Glad I was able to get a M1 iPad Pro when I did. Really in love with it, just wish the OS would allow me to do more.

This is the almost universal complaint of iPad Pro users, including me.

It's just SO hobbled by the OS. It could do so much more.

As for the phones, I ordered my 13PM pre release, so I got mine...

This would explain why my iPhone is the size of a pizza.
Is this you and your new iPhone 13 Super Max?

iPhones may be more in demand during the holiday season. Maybe this is why Apple is prioritizing iPhones. But long wait times for any product, especially in the holiday season is not good.

Ordered a 13 mini in Europe, got it shipped the next day. Unfortunately does not bode well for continuation of the mini form factor past 13.
Let’s be happy with our minis and feel good that they’ll last a long time (if current longevity of devices is any indication).

Ordered a 13 PM a couple of weeks ago. Delivery has said nov 2-9 since I place the order. It is now November the 2nd and it has not been processed yet. I am not hopeful for a delivery at all this week.

My spouse's iPhone 13 has finally shipped. I'm glad I got my 13 Pro Max and Series 7 watch a couple of weeks ago, and now the iPhone 13 on the way.

I hope these shortages don't last too much longer, not to mention the shipping/delivery delays. Unfortunately, I'm having to view cellular devices as an important safety measure these days.

Amid long waiting times for iPhone 13 models around the world, Apple has reportedly reallocated iPad parts to make up for shortages, in another signal that the global paucity of chips is impacting Apple's supply chain.

This is such a silly story. If it's a shared part, it's neither an iPad nor iPhone part until it's put in to an iPad or iPhone. The total number of components made is just based on the sum of the estimates. If one is high and the other is low, great!

I don't understand why people would upgrade to 5yr old phone design. It is painful but I am waiting for the next design with my 6s

To be specific, what components?

Last year they were delaying pro iPads to use the LiDAR sensors in the phones so that’s probably one (as that situation/shortage really hasn’t changed in the last year). Other components are probably small but necessary like display controller chips or audio, mostly it’s chips/ parts that could be used even in the budget iPad but are now going to the phone due to its profit margin and importance.

I'd like to hear more about what it can't do. (I have my own gripes, but want to hear others).

Could you expand on this? There have been a couple new designs since the 6s.

Redesign was last year (rounded edges to flat), and this year the notch is a little smaller. Apple is clearly going all-in on the notch (evidenced by its appearance on the Macbook), so any rumors about hole-punch or other major redesign of the screen is just fantasy at this point. The smaller notch will be here at least on the iPhone 14 (they would not bother to retool the factories for a smaller notch to use it only for 1 year).

If the one you have is working for you, that's great. I just wouldn't expect any radical new design coming in the next year or two.
