One way round this problem is to get rid of the useless Magsafe magnet in the new phones and stop making/selling the useless Magsafe chargers and wallets (which fall off when you put the phone in your pocket). Even if the 5G assembly was removed wouldn't make a difference to me. In other words, focus on what people really want/matters.
Not sure how those components are related, but speak for yourself. MagSafe will be a very important ecosystem in itself for Apple.

And I ordered an Apple Wallet which won’t arrive for another month but I definitely still want it.

A nice problem to have. Why I believe it too is the amount iPhone X, XS flooding Facebook Marketplace. I’m also seeing a lot of iPhone 11 Pro’s too in FB being sold too. It seems like even users with a perfectly good iPhone that will get years of iOS updates still want the latest shiny. This is such a win-win situation for Apple.
Wasn’t aware people still use Facebook in USA

I wonder how the demand will be for the 12 pro Max. Anyone have any sales numbers how the 11 Pro sizes compare?

Read through the yellow screen thread if you have a couple of hours to spare. ;)
Pretty common concept in manufacturing regarding the "reject" rate. No manufacturer produces perfect product 100% of the time and it is inevitable, there will some QC failures, either in the assembly process or in the manufacturing process of the components. Ask Takata for some examples of this.

So if you are suggesting the Apple somehow rises above this, that wouldn't be correct. But I wouldn't expect a deviation of quality given the supply chain is being realigned.

Demand for the iPhone SE does not surprise me at all. It’s a very cheap and great performance wise way to get into the iOS eco system.

Regardless of the looks of the device... to me the iPhone SE is a better buy than the iPhone XR. Considering their is a $100 price difference between the 2 devices. The SE is faster and arguably has a better camera.

That said, I opt to use the SE over my regular iPhone 11 and I’m a “latest and greatest” type person. It’s all about preference I believe.

And we are short on Toilet paper again
Yep. I went to Costco yesterday, zero toilet paper, again. And I was barely able to get a $159 chest freezer from Costco a couple of Saturdays back, but they sold out within the day. It's crazy.

A lot of chips are probably in short supply due to Hauwei's raid on the chip market earlier this year to get components prior to the American technology chip embargo.

Apple's trying too hard.. Helping customers at the sacrifice of mix and matching parts? Its good for users that Apple is "keeping ahead" but there is no finish line..

We're all in this COVID-19 crises,, just accept that fact. Its not like Apple would be the only ones if they just let delays happen anyway. There'd be allot of angry Apple users, its nothing compared to any other business

I think this would bite Apple back.

Speak for yourself.

They don't really have shortages "often"; mostly just at launch. Aka when half of the world is trying to get a new iPhone. I wouldn't say Apple is constantly cutting corners.

If you are pissed about Apple then maybe you should try buying a NVIDIA graphics card.
haha good one. While I was waiting on the Apple Silicon Mac announcement, two products were released that came to my attention. One was the Ryzen 5000 cpu line, reportedly faster than Intel, even in games. It was launched November 5 at 6am and sold out with seconds. I haven't built an windows machine in ages, but was fun to think about.

Also the Raspberry Pi 400 was released about 6 days ago. No, Raspberry Pi isn't quite going to be impossible to find. But I wanted to pick one up and interestingly enough the first shop was sold out and I had to order it from Canada. I checked a couple shops just now, both back ordered a week to two weeks.

You make it sound like they're using incompatible parts.

I saw no evidence of that in the article - they're simply juggling supply chains and inventories for probably the same parts stockpiled for different devices.

Why have bins of power management chips used to produce iPads throughout the year when they can use them on iPhones right now? They put in an order with the manufacturer to produce more, and can refill their stockpiles from the new chips as they come in.
