People have no idea what the device does (if it exists), but are giving price ranges at which it'd sell like 'hotcakes', and what's too expensive. Lol.

So in countries with carrier subsidies, you could buy two iPhone 6's for the price of a single iWatch?

At $400, count me out.

Second that.

Edit: thought you wrote "count me in". If the iWatch really has all the sensors everybody is talking about, I will pay 400$ for it.

Remember guys when the iPad Mini was "rumored" with a $329 price tag and everyone said it would fail because the mini-tablet competition was $199, yet it was a huge success? Now, even Samsung has an 8" Galaxy tablet for $399.

If Apple's wearable device offers a lot more than what the competition has to offer, then $400 isn't too bad. Current market is around $199 - $249, so $399 for a much better wearable device won't be a hard sell for a company and a powerful brand like Apple.

No way would they charge $400 if this thing is truly just an iPhone accessory. I could maybe see $400 if it's something that's crafted like a fine high end watch (there was a rumor Jony Ive's team was working with Italian watchmaker Panerai), but only if they had other models that were cheaper.

A quick glance at your wrist is a lot quicker than getting the phone out and click on one of the buttons. Plus I can go swimming with my watch.

Don't forget the people who dropped their iPhone because they just wanted to have a quick glance at the time

it all really depends on the update schedule for me. If Apple released one of these devices every 3 years, the price would be fine. Keep in mind most people (who wear watches) don't buy a watch every year...

I think Apple should release it, and then only focus on the software updates on it. No harware updates... Just let it be great from the beginning.

$400 is a pretty cheap for a watch if you think about it. I could care less about a smart watch though. I'd rather spend my money on a quality designer watch and not come cheap and tacky smart watch.

I know. I think $400 is too expensive IF the device is just an iPhone accessory. But without knowing what the product is how can people throw out any price point and say it will sell like hotcakes?

I can't imagine Apple would do an iWatch in the vein of every other company who has one.

I keep thinking about flexible LED screen technology and how a screen could wrap around your wrist opposed to it being a traditional watch.

Still hoping Apple can innovate in this area and not just do the obvious.

If this device can function standalone WITHOUT needing to pair with the iPhone for most functionality then it might be worth it. I want the iWatch to replace a standard running watch with GPS functionality as well as the standard smart watch fare, and I'll be happy. It's really hard to pass judgement on price point when none of us know how this device will even function.

$400? Yeah, I'm so not paying that for a smart watch. Apple or not. $300 is already pushing it with me.

I hope there is a high end iwatch as well to replace for some of us who we were rolex/longines but we want some more functional stylish watch

Hilarious that people say "not worth it" when we don't know A) what components it will have, B) what it will look like, and C) what it's functionality will be. I get that some people will not pay $400 for a watch no matter what, but c'mon people, how can you say what it should be priced at when you know basically nothing about it?

for the record, I like the fact that we don't know much about it. It'll be one of the bigger unveilings in recent apple history.

Hah! That's right! Forgot about that!

I'm honestly expecting it to be in the range of 149-249.

$149? This is Apple we're talking about. If they're expecting this to be a high end fashionable type device it won't have a cheap price tag, certainly not cheaper than other devices on the market.

I don't care what it does, $400 is too much, for that price it better do me sexual favors. $400 is too much for a accessory, you can buy a 5s off contract for like $650.

Thanks, Apple, but $400.00 is not something I spend for a "wearable." Maybe if I had an extra grand laying around for a phone + the iThing, but sorry Apple, you already bleed me dry. $250 and under is the range I'd be interested in.

This would be one very expensive heart rate monitor at $400.

I only wear a watch to go with an outfit, even then I still look at my phone to tell me the time.

Apple usually prices their products over here in Europe on a 1 to 1 exchange-rate. So, it would be priced around €400,- which is $525!
Whatever it features will be, this would be a no-go.

Except maybe it's not an accessory - maybe it's a stand-alone product that in no way needs an iphone for its functionality. That's the point - we know almost nothing about what it will do, yet people think they know what it should cost.

Current wearables are already a hard sell, so something more expensive will have to be in a whole different level of capability. Which it might be...

We won't know the value of the device until we know what it can do. But an accessory that is not too far off the cost of the device it supports does seem a stretch.

We don't need to know *all* of those things. $400.00 isn't worth it for a wearable device that Apple is plannnig to launch.
