I’ve heard from reliable sources that Apple will introduce a flop phone in 2026. It will come with 12 GB of RAM and will be positioned above the iPhone slim. Flip flop iPhone 🤫

Because Apple hasn't made one. Is Apple not supposed to because Android vendors already have? If so, someone should tell Tim that they have him beat on smart watches, phablets, integrating OLED displays, LTE...

Apple shouldn't innovate because someone else already tried? Truly bizarre take.
Again when did i say that?
I said no one is demanding an iPhone foldable accept android fans who continually want to butcher and make
iOS perform like android (see the same ones who salivate at the thought of the walled garden they made up being broken down, RCS, beeper, emulators and third party stores).

The majority of iPhone users do not care about foldables. They want smaller devices. A vocal minority of you ppl want iPhone foldables.

Even the android foldables are still gimmicky compared to
The slab devices lol

you can go on and on trying to attempt to dispute what I said but nobody is asking for a foldable or really cares.

I understand why apple is doing it. From a business standpoint it makes sense but from a consumer standpoint nobody except android fans who use ios
Is asking for
This and to this day I don’t get why they want to butcher iOS instead of going to android.

For it to be a walled garden they can leave at anytime to get the feature and hardware they want they insists on sticking in it. Makes you wonder why.

The one benefit still, though, is a smaller overall footprint when folded (too wide but least shorter when folded)
It takes up significantly more volume (WxHxD) than a mini-like form factor, so for me it isn’t a smaller footprint.

There is no crease on the OPO like you see on the Z Fold 6 or the Pixel Fold (those are creases). What you are seeing is the middle of the inner display where there can be no hardware underneath it to support the ultra thin glass and its ability to fold, like there is on either side of the display.
I can plainly see a crease in that video! Or a ‘dip’ or a ‘ridge’ or a ‘groove’ or whatever people choose to call it. Whatever you call it, it’s visible - which is the thing that doesn’t work for me.

Not hating, though. And glad you’re happy with yours!

How is a folding iPhone a means to that end? Truly, I am lost on how this has anything to do with Android.

You keep bringing up how if someone wants a foldable, or this feature or that feature, they should just buy an android. It seems as if you're content with Apple not changing anything, or trying anything, or innovating anywhere. Not everyone is so easily pleased, and I fail to see how you don't understand that.

Another use case for the polishing cloth.
Foldables have way too many mechanical parts whose purpose is to make the phone look like piece of jewelry.
This is not yet a phone for daily usage. Just like phone AI.
Look look I have got one! Okay, enjoy.

Rollable display and decent dust and water resistance. That would be flip/fold.

I had the Motorola V500 and it was great to fold it to such a small size. I now own a iPhone 12 mini and would switch in a heartbeat to a foldable iPhone, I just hate big phones in my pocket.

Apple is working on a foldable iPhone that could be released as early as 2026…

Rumors about a foldable iPhone have circulated for many years…

However, there is of course a possibility that Apple decides not to release a foldable iPhone..

In any case, it appears that a foldable iPhone is still at least a few years away.

This story is to information as a bowl of chicken broth is to dinner.

And not everyone wants a foldable. Why can’t you get that.

Also you keep sounding confused as to why I mentioned android and the threads title mentions galaxy which is android.

Not that difficult

Although there is one positive of the foldable technology.
The environmental friendliness, that manufacturers are testing this technology on humans and not on animals.

I don’t get the point of these type of phones. With a Galaxy Fold type of phone, you would get an iPad (mini) that you can put in your pocket, meaning you can bring it places you would not bring a normal iPad. In other words, it’s useful. But what‘s the purpose of a flip phone? Is there anywhere you cannot bring a normal-sized phone? It seems totally useless.
If you don’t get it, it’s not for you.
It’s for a younger generation.
It’s for people who miss their flip phones.

These folding devices have made Billions of dollars.

So if Apple makes a folding device with mid range specs in flashing colors and dual screens. Millions of people will buy it.

Just because you don’t have a use case for it doesn’t means millions of people won’t.

You can’t tell me you don’t miss the 90s and early 2000s with all the flashy phones that had specific special features and gimmicks.

We’re coming full circle.
Smart phones have stagnated.
They all work about the same so the same things. Have similar environments.

It’s the time of the feature phone soon upon us once again.

And not everyone wants a foldable. Why can’t you get that.

You’re right. Not everyone wants one. But millions of people DO.

So why can’t they make a phone for them, and you?

What I'd love is a phone about the size of the iPhone 4 (or even the original iPhone) with an all-screen design running the latest version of iOS.

Tim in his neverending greed won't allow for that to happen however....
An iPhone like this is my white buffalo.

This guy over here speaking for every iPhone user on Earth. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

There is a multi billion dollar market for foldable devices.
Literally billions of dollars a year are spent on these devices.

Doesn’t Apple ALWAYS take a design and refine it to near perfection?

Yes sir.

Apple wants to start somewhere.
In a few generations we might have folding Mac’s, we might have folding iPhones.
A phone that rolls out or folds into a larger tablet.
A device like that would sell millions for designers and people working on job sites that require larger screens. And this would refine the work flow and save money. No need for dual devices.

Just because you’re happy with stagnation and the color grey, doesn’t mean there are not hundreds of millions of people out there that want a little flare in their life.

This guy o

Just because you’re happy with stagnation and the color grey, doesn’t mean there are not hundreds of millions of people out there that want a little flare in their life.
Hundreds of millions?
Really. But im the hyperbolic one?

I also spent the last ten years working in consumer sales so I generally can speak based on a decade of experience working with the consumers.

What I have seen from iPhone users who see the galaxy foldables or the razr

“Oh that’s pretty cool looking.” Then they usually dismiss it because it’s android and ask for help with their iPhone purchases.

No most consumers are not demanding a foldable iPhones.

Android users and iPhone users utilize and have two entirely different wants.

There’s a reason why most of androids market share are low end devices. There’s a reason why the top 10 smartphones aren’t s24 or folds or pixels. It’s Samsung budget a series.

Android can afford gimmicks. See the first dual screen phone in 2010 (Kyocera echo). Then the 3d phones. The PlayStation phone. All phones I’ve owned. (Most of which failed)

iPhone users do not have the same demand and apple realizes that. You guys criticize them for stagnating. They know their base.

It’s not that we want stagnation we simply don’t want a device for the sake of apple making it to say they have it.

I’ve been doing this for ten years. I’ve worked in apple stores. I’ve sold foldables.

The only ones whining about this are ppl who use forums and Reddit’s to actually know apple is working on this.

The same ppl who are trying to androidfy iOS.

And trust me you are not hundreds of millions. You’re a very vocal and loud minority.

You’re right. Not everyone wants one. But millions of people DO.

Again where are you getting this “millions” from.

You try to say I’m speaking for most iPhone users and you literally are doing the same thing.

If you’re going to dispute my statement make it make sense.

Macrumors users aren’t millions. Sorry mate.

excuse me Mama.

You can work 100 years in sales.
You work with a percent or a percent of a percent of a fraction of a percent of humans that exist on earth.

Apples crunched the numbers. Apples done the market research.
They know better than you do.

But the cool thing about it is…….
If you don’t want one.

Don’t buy it.

As a foldable galaxy owner this is terrible and I’m ready for this gimmick to die.

Foldables are terrible.
Galaxy Foldable is terrible. Check out the latest Honor Magic V3 and Vivo X Fold 3 Pro to see how far behind the Galaxy Fold is compared to the ones from China.

We aren’t against it. They are terrible on android and if they can’t fix why we dislike them on android nobody wants them.

I’ve seen a small minority (even smaller than those begging for RCS and that number is incredibly low) of a minority asking for a foldable iPhone.

Foldable iPad sure. An iPhone now?

If it does come, I hope it goes the way of the mini and is dead within two generations because nearly no one on iOS is demanding this.
Have you seen the Honor Magic V3 or the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro? It puts the Z Fold 6 to shame in all hardware respect. The Honor is incredibly thin once unfolded (4.4 mm), and its thickness is 9.3 mm vs the iPhone 15 Pro Max of 8.25 mm.

Zero surprises from me.

They'd be more expensive than the pro model iphone; that lasts a fraction the lifespan of a regular phone before failing. It's a no brainder from a business perspective

Nobody wants this. Just make the iPhone ****ing better instead of drip-feeding iterative updates.

It'll sell in record numbers, purely because it's different from the last 6-7 years of the same phone. It doesn't actually need to be better or fit a use case.

This is all I wanted from Apple. Plan on upgrading to the 16 pro this year. I would wait to get this until the second generation comes out. By then hopefully they can work out any kinks. In regards to sales and marketability, they need this phone to be marketed as a premium device. If the lowball the specs and features it will be no different than the mini and they will discontinue after a couple of years.

Yep, saw one the other day. Really thick and horrible. However, there is a use case for carrying a small tablet in iPhone Max size when folded. With reports that the 17 will be super-slim, a fold version of this that opens into a small tablet could well make sense. Maybe this will be for the iPhone XX?
Z Fold is nothing compared to the Honor Magic V3 for hardware. The Honor is just 1.05 mm thicker than the iPhone 15 Pro Max. This only gets better with each generation. The unfolded thickness is 4.4 mm while folded is 9.3 mm.
