You guys need to update your information. Last year China filed more patents than the US. Granted, volume does not necessarily indicate quality, but the old "Chinese are just good at copying" line is outdated.

And China is also now starting to aggressively enforce patent violation. It naturally happens whey you have your own IP to protect.

But you are right, China is going to be the real Super Power in tech.

Tesla is one of the last great stands against outsourcing every damn thing out to China. Those subsidies are exactly what "Make it Great Again" DT should be investing more in. Not trying to ressurect turn of the century industries like coal. China is laughing at us.

As much as I love Apple they are their own country. They have no allegiance to the U.S. I've been a fan for many years but they are in it to win it. Sourcing technologies and manufacutring where they can is just good business.

So no American company would try to dominate any market? Think again. History has plenty of instances of that very thing.

You sound like as if tech rip offs, sweat shop, practically non-existence pollution regulation (and so much more) are a thing in the U.S.. Think again. The U.S. does not have the 'luxury' of exploiting the mass population + environment in order to produce large amount of cheap products to flood foreign markets.

I am sorry, but China is still making products similar to American products. Even their military aircraft look similar to the US. "Chinese are just good at copying" line is not outdated.

Tesla are the masters at battery technology. I have to admit I'm really uncomfortable with Apple, a company I admire, not working with Tesla. Tesla are an American success story, they don't need Chinese companies to reinvent badly, what Tesla does really well.
Sadly they did sell 5% stake to the china government.

Apple is now just a front for Made in China.

I'll stick with American made Tesla EVs and Japanese batteries which are best.
I agree with that.

I agree, china never created anything modern in tech, they just steal, copy ask for transfers or just buy
out and move back.

In the voice of Trump: "China, China, China, China, China, China, China, China, China, China, China, China, China, China etc"

With their billions and billions I wonder why Apple would not want to own, patient and be at the forefront of battery technology development. Especially where everything appears to be heading.

They probably have a small team on it but why outsource so many of your crucial needs.

Check profit margin of batteries. Apple loves fat margins. It's the one thing where "thinner" consistently gets rejected by Apple.

What military aircraft are you referring to?

For example, J-20 airframe design is at least a decade ahead of the F-22, particularly if you look at the front intakes.

You have no idea what your talking about. The Clinton Administration illegally transferred weapons to china in the 1990"s, Back during the Korean American companies where building high tech centers in china while fighting china in the war. Have you ever studied the world events and history?!No you have not! China's weapons are stolen tech from the west, as is the Russians.

Look forward and wake up. Man.

All knowledge is about copying. Learning means not far from it. Copying and creation are intuitive. When you have a critical mission command to your men, you say " do you copy", you won't say " do you learn?". Your best students or solders should reply "copy that".

Let me ask you a question: When and how did you learn your mother tongue? Did you create one? or you copied? When in high school learning Newton's laws, Einstein's or quantum physics, did you create by yourself? or just learnt (copied) from textbook or taking notes from your teacher?

China is already a high tech super power. No doubt about it. China is already being the biggest market for electric cars that all car companies know it. There will be first flying Taxi operating in Dubai this year. That's a Chinese company and totally designed by themselves.

Western people is far from understanding China. It has 25 times longer history than US. Spending some time to learn from this country just like Chinese, Korean, Japanese learn from western country in the past century. It's hard to change some one's mind. But it's good for those that only think US is the best. All tudent's of those Asian countries have learnt 10 years of English as required credit when they graduate from college. How much portion of US students learned that much of hours of Chinese language?

Or perhaps Google translation can help you..

takes only 15 minutes to charge a lithium-ion electric vehicle battery to the 90 percent level.
That's really cool, but I feel like I hear about these developments every year and nothing ever comes from it. Hopefully they can make it work at scale or it's useless. 15 minutes isn't bad to wait at the charging station. However, what I worry about is when there are more EVs on the road and charging stations become overwhelmed. You can usually gas up in a few minutes, but these take several times that and you don't even get full range in 15 minutes. I'm already used to waiting in line at gas stations. At least EV chargers would be easier to setup and have less regulations than gas stations, so we should see more of them—in theory.

Wireless charging underneath the car. No charging pole and cable is needed in the future.

That's neat and all, but as the article states, it takes 3.5 hours, which means it's really inefficient. People don't want to waste their electricity, especially when we're talking about huge power outputs like you need to charge a car. So that doesn't really solve the problem when you're out and about and need to fill up or on a road trip and tons of other people are waiting to charge. Maybe at some point in the far future they could build this tech into the road itself, but that's a really, REALLY long way off.

How did china become one!? built with American know how and money, china was stuck in the bronze age and begging the west to let it out. Study history much in recent years? china also wants to destroy the west and it allies with our own money and technology and people like you are trying to help it. china did not earn it why, it had it handed to them. Understand that tongue?

Exactly (Panasonic), and not Tesla's as some people say here.
I posted one on the men that invented the battery here's a post about him. goodenough-introduces-new-battery-technology

The airframe technology and sensors like EOTS seen on the J-20 weren't even available during the Clinton era.

But please, continue your diatribe.

Hmm so where are the rest of your electronics goods made? China. How about your clothes? Quite a bit from China I'd bet. How about your home consumer goods, toys, plastic ware, etc? Yeah China.

But boo at Apple! Hiss!
[doublepost=1500577786][/doublepost]
Apple is doing a wonderful job helping China become a technological powerhouse.
Ok, and what about all the other industries that have fire their US workforce and moved manufacturing to China over the past 40 years? They get a free pass? Just the big meanies at Apple are at fault here?

Yeah that makes sense. Not.

Now you change to "earn". Fine, that's better for you. I know I won't change your mind.
Answer this, how did US become one? earned or copied? just lucky? or perhaps all apply?
How did you learn that China wants to destroy the west? not the reversed?

I am sorry, but China is still making products similar to American products. Even their military aircraft look similar to the US. "Chinese are just good at copying" line is not outdated.

My son-in-law's father is an engineer at a defense contractor in Cali, and he told me this.

"We get custom tools made for us in China. At first, we would send them the drawings and then send an engineer there to help them get it right. After a while they told us, don't bother sending engineers, just send us the specs. Eventually, they said, 'why don't you just use our designs?'."

That's what's happening in China. It won't be long until most things coming out of China are more advanced and better designed than things coming out of the US, even when the US things are made in China.

How exactly does a country earn technology ? China was a pyrric victor of the Sino-Japanese war, and by all means, if it was not for their affiliation with the USSR, we would have helped them rebuild like we did other nations post WWII. So any definition of who earned our help is rather political and arbitrary. I would say, we should have tried harder and earlier to establish post WWII relations with China than with the Japanese, and probably could have reconsidered our handling of Vietnam.

One of many examples of blatant rip offs against US, Russia and other countries. Most Westerners don't realize it but we're nearing the threshold where their grandchildren will be slave laborers to Chinese government if they keep funding Made in China.

I read some paranoid comments about China here. As a European I've seen the ship of power from the US and west to China happening for quite some time. Sure China is at the no 1 producer of fake products but there's incredible progression in different industries that many western counties has chosen to be blind to.
