before of (sic) after tax (evasion)?
The bitterness is strong in this one!!!

Didn’t say they didn’t know what the were doing, just stated my opinion on how to increase profits on Mac sales.
How would lowering the price equal MORE profits??
If they sold say 30% more, by lowering the price 30%... they’d break even at best (and that’s not including the extra cost of creating/shipping/storing/selling/etc. 30% more inventory.

If you think Apple has no consideration of maintaining the optimum combination of volume and profit, we are going to be unable to dialogue...

Not so the iPad. Revenue fell 11% YoY in the biggest quarter ever. Something to keep an eye on.
…when they introduced a new low-end iPad in the quarter and had introduced new (and far more expensive) iPad Pros in the year-ago quarter.

Not everybody is enamored about iPadOS

That's fair, but iPad sales keep growing so they are making the right moves.

Rumble grumble they should make possible to turn off multitasking because it confuses me.
Readers inform him how to turn off multitasking, a feature that already exists.
Rumble grumble, they probably have this option to turn it off because they think the feature is lacking.

No, it's because folks like Gruber get confused. It's more of an accessibility thing to make iPadOS easier. For example, just because they provide a way to use iPadOS with a mouse doesn't mean they don't think folks can use it with their fingers. :)

Yeah, giving Apple advice about how to price products to optimize profits without access to detailed financial reports and product information is absolutely ridiculous. Apple is worth $1.4 trillion dollars. I think we can safely assume that they have access to staff that can do this calculation far better than anyone on MacRumors. So, we can take comfort. Like all business, Apple is pursuing the profit maximizing pricing strategy.

Net income is profit.

Apple is the highest taxpayer and follows every tax law to the letter.

If you don’t like the rules, write your congressman.

Let's say I've got a million citizens earning together as much as Apple, who pays more tax?
Let's say I've got a ten-thousend businesses earning together as much as Apple, who pays more tax?

Big or small, level the playing field.. equal taxes for all

As soon as Apple releases XCode on iPadOS, that will be a sign of the end of the Mac. Just like the Macintosh replaced the Apple II and the iPhone replaced the iPod. I think that Apple is pushing the consumer Mac user towards the iPad and at some point, the Mac will be only for the professionals that can afford the price. I can see a future where Apple sells a portable pro device like the 16 inch MacBook Pro and a desktop like the new Mac Pro and that’s it. Effectively pricing out the consumer Mac users.

That would be perfect. I would love to see all the Apple devs in this office complain about how great the iPad is at coding complex iOS/tvOS apps.

I think the Mac will still be around, if only to develop apps for the iOS platform. Users will have to be realistic about the amount of attention the Mac line receives relative to other products lines though.

I think this exemplifies the lack of understanding by many in this forum that don't understand what Macs are used for. In my company, most (> 95%) use Mac[books]. All the Android and native client/server devs have MBPs. I think if Apple were to decide what you're hinting, they would lose a lot of additional revenue from services. We use Apple services to repair Macs.

The term (sic) is used to leave quotations IN THEIR ORIGINAL FORM with their spelling errors or whatnot... whilst showing others that was left there on purpose; as it is a part of the original quote. That is an incredibly common term & I can assure you, when a quote is read by the average person & they see a spelling error, followed by the (sic) term, they are not confused, nor do they think “this quote must be fake!”.
Honestly... no offense, but it makes a sad statement about the chances that you are even passingly familiar with reading a newspaper or magazine, if that term weirded you out and felt foreign to you.

It would be terrible in the current iPadOS environment, I agree. With that being said, Apple is making iPadOS more and more usable with every update and at some point it will be ready to run Xcode. Hell, with iPadOS supporting pointing devices and external monitors the Apple TV could be a full fledged desktop computer with the flip of a switch. I don’t think that will happen, just speaking hypothetically.

There you go, let it all out. “No offence”?
Like I said -Fake- don’t write what you do not mean. And no I do not read yesterdays news.

When you stroll into a thread like this you are going to find many people that have personally invested their own money in Apple. Hence we are happy. If you would like to get a fresh perspective buy some shares and join the fun.

As one who has strolled into many an Apple store (and reseller stores before that, and most often with a happy disposition) to invest many thousands of dollars on Apple products to make my living since 1993, I kinda think my perspective is fresh enough. On with the fun!

Ummm.... ok.
I can see that my original comment about you being bitter/acrimonious was spot on! =)

I’m definitely not going to apologize that I’ve read content before in printed form. I mean, congratulations I guess that you feel you’re right where you need to be education-wise, with only getting all the information you consume from online forums... however, to be blunt- it REALLY shows.
If you can’t spell simple words/use capitalization properly, string together coherent sentences, make any credible claims in a discussion, & your only “defense” is to bark out orders at people you hold no power over- I don’t know what to tell ya, pal... I’m enjoying the rest of this conversation (others are too, check my upvotes!), but I will not be responding to you any longer.

Getting this post back on topic- I’m pleased with AAPL performance this last year!
I had advised a close relative that came into a chunk of cash to pick up as many shares as they could afford.... curse my timing- the pull back started like a month later. Lol, now that they’re WAY back to the good, I can finally not feel awkward at family gatherings. ;0)

Lol, sure... post me a comment from the CEO of an oil or pharma company where they claim 98% customer satisfaction with their products (like Mr. Cook just did) & I’ll applaud them.

If they differ IMMENSELY from Apple, in that their profits come from people forced to buy gas & meds... despite degree of happiness/unhappiness with the products or prices- then I guess your comparison is bad.

Well, I did say it was an extreme example in my original comment. Extreme = bad? OK. My main point being it seems at times those elated with Apples profits (I would be too had I been an AAPL investor) can't for a minute consider that others have some degree of frustration with Apple. A great many of those are the professionals who bought into the Apple/Mac eco systems decades ago. Certainly it's not the same as being "forced" buy gas & meds, but in a way they are beholden to what Apples decides to provide for their continued use of the hardware/software platform. For what it's worth, and like I said in my post, I'm not an Apple doom-and-gloomer or anti-Cook type, but I can relate to those with varying degrees of frustration. Fair enough?

Absolutely fair enough. Excellent clarification of point.
Personally... my opinion on the Mac is that while the future of professional grade and consumer grade computers was effluous there for a while; following an unusual public statement of commitment to these categories- they followed through with it & we now have new Minis & this beastly Pro I keep hearing about.
So, while I’m sure they’re not batting a thousand or anything... I believe that their stock should (and does) positively reflect that for the widest of use cases, they’re doing their level best to service well.

Apple probably pays more tax than most groups of 1 million people.

Again, write your congressman if you don’t like the tax law. Apple follows it

I guess you are just too complex for me. A moment ago you were wondering why anybody would be happy Apple is at all time highs.

For all the people complaining about Apple prices, their dominance in this "high end / luxury tech" segment means that their products are priced exactly right.

If you want something affordable, I heard there are stolen Apple products for sale in Compton, you get 40% off if you pre-order the robbery.
